Application
The EVO/ECM-4Spd control can be applied to most ECM fan powered VAV terminals with electric heat. The application provides:

· Improves Ventilation
· Improves Comfort
This application provides the amount of fan flow needed to properly heat the occupied space. In climates with a high heating load, this is often more than the fan flow required for cooling. In milder climates, the heating fan flow is often lower than the cooling fan flow. This application provides a fan flow adjustment for cooling, and an additional fan flow adjustment for each stage of heating. For best performance, the fan flow for each heating stage is adjusted to produce 90degF/32degC discharge temperature from each diffuser.
When the diffuser temperature is too high, the heated air does not mix well with the air in the conditioned space. The heated air collects at the ceiling failing to heat the space. This heated air mass also contains the ventilation air for the space, so the ventilation air never reaches the occupants.
Adjustment
Place the terminal in cooling. Adjust Flo0 to obtain the fan flow required for cooling.
For heating adjustments, make sure the conditioned space is at the occupied heating temperature.
Place a thermometer in a diffuser so you can see the diffuser air temperature. Place the terminal into 1st stage heating. Adjust Flo1 to achieve the desired discharge air temperature. The recommended temperature is 90degF/32degC.
Place the terminal into 2nd stage heating. Adjust Flo2 to achieve the desired discharge air temperature. The recommended temperature is 90degF/32degC.
Place the terminal into 3rd stage heating. Adjust Flo3 to achieve the desired discharge air temperature. The recommended temperature is 90degF/32degC.
Connection
Connect the EVO/ECM-4Spd control so the automation control turns the control on by applying 24Vac power directly from the automation output. A relay is usually not required. Connect the automation control 1st stage heating output to the Flo1 terminal of the EVO/ECM-4Spd control. (Leave the stage 1 heating contactor connected). Connect the 2nd and third stages in a like manner.
