1st District: 08/13/12 to 08/22/12

A1 Beat:

·  An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 12500 block of Village Square Terrace, North Bethesda on Monday, 8/20 between 1:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.

·  A theft from a vehicle occurred in the 12300 block of Charles Road, Silver Spring on Thursday, 8/16 at 4:30 a.m. Unlocked vehicle; cash taken.

·  A vehicle theft occurred in the 3700 block of Ferrara Drive, Silver Spring at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, 8/19.

·  A graffiti incident occurred in the 4400 block of Clearfield Road, Silver Spring between 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, 8/16 and 11:34 a.m. on Friday, 8/17.

A2 Beat:

·  Five thefts from vehicles occurred on Sunday, 8/19, between 6:00 a.m. and 6:11 a.m. in this Rockville neighborhood. All but one of the vehicles targeted were unlocked; one vehicle had unknown entry.

Ø  At Claggett Drive & Maple Avenue. Took a cell phone.

Ø  In the 300 block of Clagett Drive. Took a GPS;

Ø  In the 900 block of Maple Avenue. Took cash, DVD player, tote bag with 9 DVD’s.

Ø  In the 300 block of Dean Drive. Nothing taken.

Ø  In the 300 block of Clagett Drive. Took GPS.

Arrested: Male, 17 yrs. old, from Rockville;

Arrested: Male, 19 yrs. old, from Rockville.

·  A theft from a vehicle occurred in the parking lot of the 7-11, 13251 Atlantic Avenue, Rockville on Sunday, 8/19, between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.

A3 Beat:

·  Two graffiti incidents occurred in this Rockville beat on Friday, 8/19:

Ø  Between 10:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. in Welsh Park, 600 Mannakee Street.

Ø  Between 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. in the 200 block of N. Washington Street.

A4 Beat:

·  Six thefts from vehicles occurred in Derwood overnight between Monday, 8/13 and Tuesday, 8/14. All but one vehicle had unlocked doors; one had unknown entry.

Ø  Between 2:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. in the 15500 block of Grinnell Terrace. Property taken.

Ø  Between 1:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. in the 15600 block of Wapello Way. Took coins and a Nintendo DS with 8 games.

Ø  Between 11:30 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. in the 15500 block of Grinnell Terr. Two vehicles searched; took cash and a Metro Smart Card.

Ø  At 6:00 a.m. in the 15400 block of Indianola Drive. Took iPod, swim gear and two Metro Smart Cards.

Ø  Between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 a.m. in the 15600 block of Indianola Drive. Took cash.

Ø  Between 10:30 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. in the unit block of Grinnell Court. Took iPod.

·  A weapons violation occurred at the Shady Grove Metro, Derwood on Tuesday, 8/21 at 12:20 a.m.

Arrested: Male, 23 yrs. old, from King George, VA.

B1 Beat:

·  There were no significant events in the beat during this time period.

B2 Beat:

·  An aggravated assault occurred in the parking lot of Starbucks, 14941 Shady Grove Road, Rockville on Friday, 8/17 at 8:44 a.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and was arrested.

Arrested: Male, 59 yrs. old, from Rockville.

·  A residential burglary occurred in the unit block of Atwell Court, Potomac on Thursday, 8/16 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Forced entry; property taken.

·  A residential burglary occurred in the 200 block of Long Trail Terrace, Rockville on Friday, 8/17 between 1:20 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Forced entry; property taken.

·  A purse snatch occurred in the 7500 block of Heatherton Lane, Potomac on Tuesday, 8/21 at 5:30 p.m.

Suspect: H/M, 19 yrs. old.

·  An attempted theft from a vehicle occurred in the 14000 block of Pellita Terrace, Rockville on Tuesday, 8/21 at 11:15 p.m. Nothing was taken.

Suspect: Unk race, M, 16-18 yrs. old, 5’8”- 5’10”, 160-180 lbs., white baseball cap;

Suspect: Unk race/sex, 16-18 yrs. old, 5’10”-6’, 170-180 lbs., carrying a backpack.

·  An attempted scam/vandalism was perpetrated on an elderly victim at the Giant Food, 7919 Tuckerman Lane, Potomac on Saturday, 8/18 at 11:00 a.m. The suspect approached the victim in the parking lot and offered to fix a dent in her trunk. She said no and entered the store. She met a friend inside and they came out to find the suspect had drilled three holes in the trunk by the dent. He told the victim’s friend that she had agreed to pay $700 for the ‘repair’. The friend asked him for his ID and company name and he drove off.

Suspect: W/M, 30-35 yrs. old, 6’- 6’3”, muscular, khaki pants, white sneakers;

Vehicle: white SUV.

B3 Beat:

·  Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred in this Potomac beat overnight from Wednesday, 8/15 to Thursday, 8/16. All vehicles were unlocked or unknown entry. Cash taken. Affected streets included: the 9700 block of Conestoga Way, 9900 block of Logan Drive, 9300 block of Falls Road, 9700 block of Clydesdale Street, 9600 block of Accord Drive, 10800 block of Alloway Drive, 10300 block of Holbrook Drive, 9600 block of Hall Road and the 11000 block of Stanmore Drive.

B4 Beat:

·  A residential burglary occurred in the 15100 block of White Tail Way, Gaithersburg on Thursday, 8/16 between 11:20 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Forced entry. Nothing was taken.

Arrested: Male, 26 yrs. old, no fixed address.

·  A residential burglary occurred in the 11800 block of Trailridge Drive, Potomac on Thursday, 8/16 between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. Unforced entry; property taken.

·  A residential burglary occurred between Monday, 8/13 and Sunday 8/19 in the 10500 block of Bounty Cove Court, Gaithersburg. The method of entry is unknown. Property taken.

D1 Beat:

·  A strong-arm robbery occurred at Wisconsin Avenue & Davidson Drive, Bethesda on Monday, 8/20 at approximately 1:30 a.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property.

Suspects: 3-5 B/Ms, 16-17 yrs.

·  An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 3700 block of Bradley Lane, Bethesda on Friday, 8/17 at approximately 10:40 P.M. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.

D2 Beat:

·  A vehicle theft occurred at Woodmont Avenue & Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda on Wednesday, 8/15 at approximately 2:00 p.m.

Suspect: W/M, 47-53, 5’7”.

D3 Beat:

·  No significant activity to report.

E1 Beat:

·  An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 4800 block of Falstone Avenue, Chevy Chase sometime between Saturday, 8/18 and Monday, 8/20. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.

·  Graffiti was tagged on the side of the building at McDonalds, 5214 River Road, Bethesda on Tuesday, 8/21 between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.

E2 Beat:

·  No significant activity to report.

E3 Beat:

·  A commercial burglary occurred at Brow Art 23, Montgomery Mall, 7101 Democracy Blvd., Bethesda sometime overnight from Monday, 8/20 to Tuesday, 8/21. Property taken.

3rd District: 8/13/2012 to 8/21/2012

G1 Beat:

·  A residential burglary occurred in the 7700 block of Fenton Street, Silver Spring between 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, 8/16 and 8:53 a.m. on Friday, 8/17. Forced entry; property taken.

G2 Beat:

·  An attempted robbery/assault occurred in the area of Colesville Road and Sligo Creek Parkway, Silver Spring on Sunday, 8/19 at 4:49 a.m. The suspect assaulted the victim and unsuccessfully attempted to remove property.

Suspect: B/M, 30 years, 5’9” 200lbs, black shirt and jeans.

·  An armed robbery occurred at the Shell Station, 9510 Georgia Avenue Silver Spring on Thursday, 8/16 at 8:39 p.m. The suspect entered the station, produced a gun and demanded cash. The suspect fled with proceeds.

Suspect: B/M, 28-33 years, 5’7” 180lbs, beard, black cap, black North Face Jacket.

H1 Beat:

·  A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 1000 block of University Boulevard E., Silver Spring on Sunday, 8/19 at 11:25 p.m. The suspects forcefully removed property from the victim, then fled.

Suspects: (3) B/Ms, 16-20 years, 6”.

·  An aggravated assault occurred in the 500 block of Domer Avenue, Silver Spring on Saturday, 8/18 at 2:03 a.m. by a known suspect.

·  An aggravated assault occurred in front of the 7-11, 650 University Boulevard, Silver Spring on Thursday, 8/16 at 5:00 p.m. The suspect assaulted the victim and was arrested.

Arrested: Male, 40 years of age.

·  A residential burglary occurred in the 1000 block of Ruatan Street, Silver Spring on Saturday, 8/18 at 11:25 p.m. Unknown means of entry; unknown whether anything was taken.

·  A residential burglary occurred in the 8800 block of Piney Branch Road, Silver Spring on Thursday, 8/16 between 8:00 a.m. and 11:52 a.m. Forced entry; property taken.

·  A residential burglary occurred in the 8900 block of Piney Branch Road on Tuesday, 8/14 between 9:30 a.m. and 10:07 p.m. Forced entry; property taken.

H2 Beat:

·  A robbery occurred at The Public Storage, 10717 Hillwood Drive, Silver Spring on Sunday, 8/19 at 4:40 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and removed property.

Suspects: (2) B/M’s, 25-30, 5’5” to 6”, 150-160lbs.

·  A burglary occurred at Broad Acres Elementary School, 710 Beacon Road, Silver Spring on Sunday, 8/19 at 3:00 a.m. No forced entry; arrests were made.

Arrested: Male, age 13, from Adelphi;

Male, age 17, from Silver Spring.

I1 Beat:

·  An armed robbery occurred at a bus stop at Lockwood Drive and Oakleaf Drive, Silver Spring on Monday, 8/20 at 2:20 p.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property.

Suspect: B/M, 14-18 years, 5’5” 140-160lbs, several tattoos, gray shirt and jeans.

·  A residential burglary occurred in the 11500 block of Lockwood Drive, White Oak on Friday, 8/17 between 12:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Unknown means of entry; unknown whether anything was taken.

I2 Beat:

·  A strong arm robbery/assault occurred in a parking lot in the area of National Drive & Old Columbia Pike, Burtonsville on Thursday, 8/16 at 11:00 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victims and obtained property.

Suspects: (2) B/M’s, wearing black shirts;

B/F, wearing a black head band.

·  A residential burglary occurred in the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard, Fairland on Saturday, 8/18 at 5:49 p.m. Unknown means of entry; unknown whether anything was taken.

·  A sexual offense occurred on Monday, 8/20 at 9:49 p.m. in the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard, Fairland. Suspect was located exposing himself and was arrested.

Arrested: Male, age 29, from Washington DC.

J1 Beat:

·  No significant activity was reported.

·  An armed robbery occurred at the AT&T store, 18109 Town Center Drive, Olney on Friday, 8/17 at 10:04 a.m. The suspect displayed a weapon and obtained property.

Suspect: Hispanic male, 30, 5’5”, short black hair.

K1 Beat:

·  An attempted armed robbery occurred just north of the Glenmont Metro, 12600 Georgia Avenue, Glenmont on Wednesday, 12/15 at 9:51 p.m. The suspects displayed a weapon and unsuccessfully attempted to remove property from the victim.

Suspect: black male, 13-15, 5’, 90 lbs;

Suspects: four or five young black males.

·  A residential burglary occurred in the 3500 block of Pear Tree Court, Silver Spring on Tuesday, 8/21 at 8:00 p.m. Unforced entry; property taken.

K2 Beat

·  A residential burglary occurred in the 13500 block of Loyola Street, Silver Spring on Thursday, 8/16 between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Forced entry; property taken.

L1 Beat:

·  Three residential burglaries occurred in the same timeframe in this Silver Spring beat:

Ø  In the 11600 block of Georgia Avenue on Monday, 8/20 between 12:01 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. Forced entry; property taken.

Ø  In the 11600 block of Georgia Avenue between Sunday, 8/19 at 11:00 p.m. and Monday, 8/20 at 8:30 p.m. Attempted forced entry. Nothing taken.
