Everyone invited to June 13 opening of AGH/FVM Redevelopment

The newly renovated Almonte General Hospital (AGH) and the new Fairview Manor (FVM) will officially open on June 13, 2008 and everyone is invited to join the celebration.

On hand to officially open the AGH/FVM Redevelopment Project are two very special guests: The Honourable Dalton McGuinty, Premier of Ontario, and the Honourable George Smitherman, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health and Long-Term Care.

“The completion of the Redevelopment Project is a major event for our community,” said AGH/FVM Executive Director Ray Timmons. “The attendance of the Premier and Minister of Health and Long-Term Care at our official opening is the icing on the cake.”

The opening ceremonies, which will take place on the Hospital grounds at 75 Spring Street in Almonte, will begin at 10 a.m.

Popular local entertainer Wayne Rostad will emcee the proceedings.

In addition to the ribbon cutting to officially open the new facility, the proceedings will also include the dedication of the Circle of Life Garden on the Hospital’s front lawn.

A number of special guests have been invited to the event, including local federal, provincial and municipal officials and members of the AGH/FVM Board of Directors and Foundation Board.

The opening ceremonies will be followed by tours of the new facility, musical entertainment and a barbecue lunch.

Joining Wayne Rostad on stage for the musical entertainment will be Gail Gavan, Kaylen and Kelly Prescott, Lauren Hall and Dennis Whitty.

Construction on the $29-million Redevelopment Project, which includes the new 112-bed Fairview Manor and a major expansion and renovation of the Hospital, is almost complete.

“This integrated model of care will help us provide a wider range of services, closer to home, for the residents of this growing community,” Timmons said. “We hope everyone in the community joins us for this milestone in local health care.”
