Part Deux: Evangelical Protestant…An Explanation

Prayer for the Church—Richard Foster

I pray today, Jesus, for Your Bride, the Church. It must hurt You to see all our sin and rebellion;

All our fighting and backbiting.

It’s presumptuous, I know, to think we can ever enter the ache of Your heart for Your children. Even so, at best we can repent of our sins and the sins of our people. We have scorned You in so many ways: by prostituting our integrity for the sake of personal advantage,

Forgive us O Lord;

For loving our structures more than Your Church,

Forgive us O Lord;

For disregarding those who are precious to You,

Forgive us O Lord;

For working as if we are the ones in charge,

Forgive us O Lord. Forgive. Heal. Restore. Amen

From Your Pastor’s Heart

Has God disappointed you?

Do you have unfulfilled dreams?

Have you ever held a dream of accomplishing something big for God only to realize that it was your dream and not God’s dream for you?

Read 2 Samuel 7.

King David was unfulfilled. He planned to build a great Temple to honor God and to bring the Ark of the Covenant into a place of honor.

But God had other plans for David and put the building of the Temple “on hold” for David’s son Solomon to complete.

God’s plans are the best plans.

God’s timing is the best timing.

If a dream of doing something for God is not from God, it will not come to completion with honor and God’s blessings.

But remember: “When God says ‘no,’ God is not rejecting you---just your plan.”

Pray. Seek God. And enjoy the journey.

Your Pastor

Bob

Bible Verse for the week

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good

works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

--Ephesians 2:10

Thought for the Week

Evil never presents itself in its true and undisguised self.

--Pastor Bob

Smile for the Week

All the world is a camera; look pleasant and happy, please.

Only in Church

Returning from the restroom, the older woman asked the man at the end of the pew, “Excuse me, but did I step on your foot a few minutes ago.

Expecting an apology, he replied, “Why yes, you did.”

“Oh, good,” she said, “Then this is my pew!”
