Please note that each proposal must involve a minimum of three and a maximum of ten (3-10) JPND funded partners. Each consortium must involve JPND funded partners from at least three different countries.

Other partners can join the consortium if they can secure their own funding and as long as the majority of research groups and the coordinator are from JPND participating countries. If this is relevant for your consortium, please list non-funded partners below and explain collaboration in chapters 3 and 4.

II. Abstracts

III. Detailed information

1. Backgroundand present state of the art in the research field, rationale and preliminary results(max. 2 pages)

2. Work plan highlighting the originality andnovelty (max. 15 pages, including references and figures)

Including aims, a clear statement of the research questions,methodology,time plan, project coordination and management, availability and accessibility of well-characterized patient groups/data/samples/resources/infrastructures. References and figures have to be included in the 15 pages; however, references may be included in smaller font size. Inclusion of a pert chart(explaining the work packages and the role of the partners) is recommended.

3. Structure and added value of the proposed collaboration (max. 1 page)

Structure of the consortium and involvement of non-JPND funded participants in the consortium.Appropriateness of the team in terms of research area, research methods, complementarity of expertise and synergistic potential. Level of training/knowledge exchange between research organisations. Please also explain the added value of a transnational approach.

4. Possible exploitation of expected project results (max. 1 page)

Please explain the impact of the expected results, including potential for future clinical and health related applications. List the project deliverables. Demonstrate the potential for collaboration with key organisations responsible for implementing or applying the findings. Describe any plans for partnership working, collaboration, and dissemination and knowledge exchange plans aimed at ensuring optimal uptake and application of the study findings. Please also explain how data management will be performed and what the data/material sharing policy is.

5. Ethical and Legal issues (max. 1 page)

These include, but are not limited to,informed consent, data protection, use of animalsand legal issues(e.g., handling of intellectual property rights (IPR), patenting…), according to national regulations.

6. Brief CVs (max. 1 page each)

For each group leader with a list of up to five relevant publications within the last five years, demonstrating the competence to carry out the project, description of patents and ongoing projects of each participating group relevant for the present topic, indicating funding sources and possible overlaps with proposal

7. Justification of requested budget (max. 3 pages)

For each funded cooperation partner, please explain shortly the following budget items (if applied for):

Consumables:List of consumables (keywords, e.g., antibodies, chemicals, cell culture medium…)

Equipment:Please provide further information(e.g. Real-time PCR cycler) and a short justification (e.g., why is the cycler needed?).

In addition, specification of co-funding from other sources necessary for the project as well as secured funding of non-JPND funded partners of the consortium should be explained here, if applicable.
