(Keeping in Touch with Others)

Unit Statement: In this unit the student will learn how to make phone calls and exchange simple personal information, such as where he/she lives, telephone numbers and email addresses.

Essential Outcomes: (must be assessed for mastery)

1.  The Student Will recognize the following characters电子邮件/email address, 没关系/that’s all right, 手机/cell phone, 地址/address, 宠物/pets, 知道/know

2.  TSW follow the rules for writing Chinese characters of the words: 电话/telephone, 码/number, 少/less, 请/please, 问/ask, 高兴/happy, 客气/you are welcome, 庭family, 地/place,它/it, 区/district, 路/road, 室/room, 街/street, 市/city, 对right, (Interpretive reading and Presentational writing)

3.  TSW recognize all unit vocabulary words (Interpretive Listening and Reading)

4.  TSW exchange phone numbers and email addresses with classmates. (Interpersonal Communication)

5.  TSW properly fill out personal information cards in Chinese. (Presentational writing)

6.  TSW Write emails to each other in Chinese. (Presentational writing)

7.  TSW properly asks for someone’s home address and gives his/her home address. (Interpersonal Communication)

8.  TSW self-select and read level-appropriate literature independently for at least 30 minuts per week. (Interpretive reading)

1.  The Student Will use the modal particles, 呢/ and吗/, in a question. (Presentational speaking)

2.  TSW describe pictures using set phrases. (Presentational speaking)

3.  Chinese pinyin poster and Chinese strokes and radicals’ poster.

4.  Someone’s business card.

5.  Teacher makes a big information card for display.
