COMMODITY MANAGER

cei, a market leading supplier of many flexible packaging and technical products located in Wrightstown, WI has an immediate opening for a Commodity Manager. The Commodity Manager is part of a service-oriented team that creates sustainable competitive advantage for cei and its customers, working collaboratively with stakeholders to consistently develop socially responsible, cost effective and innovative supply management solutions that are aligned with their customers’ changing needs. The Commodity Manager is also responsible for leading the sourcing of assigned raw material commodities to achieve improvements in total cost of ownership, working capital and business financial goals - and will use a structured strategic sourcing process to drive the activities involved in supplier discovery, supplier selection, and supplier development and supplier relationship management. This role involves working closely with cross functional teams to achieve strategic sourcing objectives for the commodities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Develops, documents and communicates commodity sourcing strategies and action plans that are aligned to the organization’s business objectives and based on a deep understanding of the commodity supply markets.

Responsible for executing the Strategic Sourcing Process and ensuring consistent application across all key assigned commodities.

Develops and executes plans based on key sourcing levers (Global Sourcing, Best Price Evaluation, Volume Aggregation, and Value Engineering/Value Analysis) that deliver improvements in Total Cost of Ownership or Total Landed Cost.

Negotiates supply contracts that meet the business needs including terms, pricing, volume agreements, inventory management strategies, competitive benchmarks, performance, and annual cost reductions.

Works with cross functional team members to develop and manage supplier relationships in order to obtain the best value in terms of quality, service, innovation and cost. Monitors and manages supplier performance using clearly defined objectives and metrics.

Champions the development of risk analysis, assessment and mitigation plans that minimize service disruptions to the customer. This includes monitoring and managing material supply to protect against short term disruptions, ensuring that the supply base has capacity to meet cei’s highest short term requirements and long term growth needs, and negotiating effective inventory/service programs with the supply base.

Works collaboratively with Product Development, Sales, Quality and Manufacturing in sourcing new raw materials and selection of new suppliers to support new growth initiatives.

Provides timely forecast for key commodities and market outlook to keep organization informed of key cost changes; tracks variations from annual forecast process.

Proactively establishes and implements countermeasures to address negative market trends and missed performance objectives.

Works with our Quality Department and our suppliers to establish better supplier relationships and improve product performance.

Works with cross functional teams, both internal and internal/external, to facilitate process and procedures that support the organizations goals.

Able to travel 15 – 25% of the time, nationally or internationally as required.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree (BA) from four-year college our university; 5-7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3 – 5 years demonstrated knowledge and experience in sourcing a major commodity group, preferably with resin or resin based materials. Purchasing system experience (e.g. Ariba, SAP, Oracle). C.P.M. or C.P.S.M certification strongly preferred.
