Erskine PTA Agenda

Opening information:

·  The meeting was called to order by Laurie Tauber, PTA President. (The minutes from the October 2015 meeting were approved).

Principal’s Report (Mrs. Zimmerman):

·  98% of Erskine families attended the recent conferences. Thank you for your support!

·  Erskine is a SINA school: professional learning time is used to look at how Language Arts and Math tie into the Iowa Core and how we can meet the target.

Counselor’s Report (Mrs. Hall):

·  Thanksgiving Food Drive-5th graders project. From November 9-20, we will be putting together baskets for families

·  Giving Tree in December

Treasurer’s Report (Christine Shaw):

·  Beginning balance: $35,368.50

·  Ending balance: $33,328.82

Old Business (Laurie Tauber):

·  New refrigerator for lounge was purchased and installed.

Committee Updates:

·  Box Tops: Mrs. Lynn won the October competition. 522 box tops were collected. Keep collecting the box tops for Erskine!

·  Hy-Vee Receipts (Tammy Millsap): Mrs. Aldershof’s class won for the October collection. 488 receipts were collected. Keep collecting receipts for Erskine!

·  Target (Jennifer Patterson): $641.54; 47 people with RedCards.

·  Student Directory (Angel West): Directories were passed out to students-They look great!

·  Fall Family Fest : This event was well attended and was a lot of fun!

·  Donuts with Dad (Jennifer Patterson): Overwhelming turnout of 300+ people! Muffins with Mom will be held in the spring for 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade students. Donuts with Dad may be held in November next year.

·  Fall Clean-up (Laurie Tauber): There will be a clean-up in the spring as well

·  Book Fair (Laurie Tauber): The book fair was a huge success! Total sales were $5,742.23 and we earned $2,871.12 in Scholastic dollars! We may have another book fair in the spring.

·  Hospitality/Staff Dinner (Annette Rosendahl): Well attended!!

·  Pumpkin Decorating Contest (Tammy Millsap): What a great turnout in pumpkins! 57 pumpkins were entered and there were 10 categories of winners.

New business:

·  School store: Angel West will be volunteering to help out with the school store. Thank you Angel! The school store is open Friday’s before school for K-3rd grade and Friday’s during lunch for 4th-5th grade.

·  Labels for Education (Jennifer Patterson): We are collecting these labels and there is a collection box in the lobby of Erskine. These labels are collected to earn money for Erskine.

·  Erskine Extravaganza (Laurie Tauber): This event will be held on Saturday December 5th from 9:00-2:00. There will be 25 vendors/crafters. There will be a silent auction, bake sale, lunch as well as a visit from Santa. We are in need of volunteers for this event as a sign up will be coming out soon.

·  Winter Party (Katie Cervantes & Christine Engel): The winter party will be held on Friday, January 29th from 5:30-7:30 pm

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, December 3rd at 6:30. Daycare will be provided!
