Independent Contractor. Responsibilities include testing and quality assurance of cellular phones manufactured by Sanyo Electric Co. for Sprint Nextel Corp. Duties require intensive reading of Japanese language in order to accurately perform requested tests. Also perform translation of Kissco company documents from Japanese to English and write daily progress reports in Japanese to Sanyo.
v August 2006 - August 2007: Saitama City Board of Education; The JET (Japan Exchange Teaching) Program. Saitama City, Japan.
Assistant Language Teacher. Taught English language in cooperation with native Japanese teachers of English at two junior high schools and three elementary schools in Saitama City, near Tokyo. Responsible for creating materials designed to entertain and teach students fundamentals of English while fostering an understanding of international cultures. Use of Japanese language required on a daily basis in order to communicate with school officials and to coordinate lesson plans with teachers who lacked English language ability.
v November 2002 - June 2005: The Associated Press, Markets Information Division. Kansas City, Missouri.
Software Support Specialist. Responsible for designing, creating and distributing stock market pages for several hundred AP member newspapers in the United States. Used a variety of software including Quark XPress, Adobe InDesign and proprietary systems to compile, process and format market data in a deadline-driven environment. Handled requests and support calls from AP members.
v May 2001 - July 2001: Webster University International Business Internship Exchange in Partnership with the State of Missouri. Asahikawa City, Hokkaido, Japan
International Business Intern. Worked in cooperation with Asahikawa University at Asahikawa Grand Hotel and New Hokkai Hotel as a cultural liaison between the state of Missouri and the city of Asahikawa. Edited English documents for accuracy and clarity; translated Japanese documents into English.
