Profile

This is really important. When making an application, your profile will be sent to schools alongside your CV. It will be the first thing that a school will read so use it to sell your strengths and experience and successfully market yourself as an excellent teacher. Keep it short and eye-catching and make sure you include the following;

•Total number of years of experience

•Subjects qualified to teach

•Curriculum experience

•Countries you have taught in

•Additional responsibilities

•Teaching qualifications

•Teaching philosophy/style

Example: John is a fully qualified and experienced Maths Teacher. He has over 8 years of experience in both Australian and International schools and has taught to the UK, IB and NSW Curriculums. John has experience teaching in Australia, China and the UAE. His current position is at an IB curriculum school in China which has a high proportion of EFL students. During his time at this school, he was promoted to Head of Department and now manages a team of five.

John has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and a Bachelor of Education degree in Secondary Education. Prior to qualifying he spent a year teaching ESL in South Korea having completed a TEFL course.

John describes his teaching style in the following way:“I am an outgoing and industrious individual who truly enjoys inspiring my students to be risk takers and become the best that they can be. During the facilitation of their learning, I promote critical thinking and enable students to see themselves as part of a global society.”
