Environment Health & Safety Specialist

Avcorp Industries Inc. is seeking an experienced Environment, Health and Safety Specialist to administer and maintain the organization's safety program to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.


Responsibilities

·  Support day-to-day EHS operations and process management

·  Implement, manage and monitor safety programs, policies, and procedures

·  Ensure compliance with safety regulations

·  Evaluate site procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions.

·  Oversee the Worker’s Compensation Program.

·  Lead incident analyses to determine root cause(s), prevention, and corrective measures

·  Monitor site conditions, practices and procedures for compliance with OSHA requirements

·  Select and implement corrective action and follow-up to ensure proper action has been taken

·  Control site security

·  Provide Environmental, Health, and Safety training and guidance to site personnel as needed

·  Manage the companies Emergency Operations Plan. Train all employees involved in the plan and act as the Emergency Scene Captain in the event of an emergency. Conduct practice evacuation drills.

·  Audit to ensure compliance with company, local, state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations

·  Design safe work spaces and create policies for employees to follow that minimize job-related hazards

·  Manage the ITAR and EAR Export Compliance Programs as a designated official

Preferred Qualifications

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related field Additional experience may be substituted for education

·  5+ years of work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred

·  Knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and procedures; both safety/environmental and export compliance regulations

·  Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization as well as with customers and regulatory agencies

·  This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee

·  Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States
