Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to the next meeting of the Strategic Co-ordination Group (SCG) on the 27th and 28th October 2004, which will take place at:

Centre Albert Borschette (CCAB)
Rue Froissart 36, B-1049 Bruxelles, Belgium.
(Metro Schuman)
Room 2C on the 27th October and room 1D on the 28th October

The meeting will start at 10:00h on 27th October and end on the 28th October at 13:00h. It will be followed by a WFD Committee meeting (see separate invitation). Unfortunately, the Commission cannot reimburse any travel expenses for the meeting of the Strategic Co-ordination Group.

The main objective of the meeting is to continue the work under the Common Implementation Strategy and prepare the upcoming Water Directors meeting to be held in Amsterdam on 2-3 December. In particular, the latest activities developed by the Commission will be discussed, as well as the progress achieved under the various activities of the Working Groups, in particular the finalisation of the intercalibration guidance and information sheets on environmental costs. Furthermore, the work programme for 2005 – 2006 will be discussed and the SCG will be informed about various issues relating to integration of the WFD into other policy areas. Finally, progress on the floods communication will be presented.

In order to help you in preparing the meeting, a draft agenda for the meeting is attached to this invitation. If you have any proposals for the agenda, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The leaders of the working groups 2A, 2B, 2C and 2D are kindly invited to give a short presentation (maximum 5 to 10 minutes) in order to brief on the state of play on the activities of their groups since the last SCG meeting.

The meeting documents will be put onto the WFD CIRCA system from 8th October 2004 onwards. Therefore, as done in our previous meeting, we will provide you with and overview list identifying the relevant documents
