Reports to: / Youth Service Manager/ Regional Lead
Salary: / £17,500 - £23,500
Hours: / Full Time & Part Time opportunities. This role demands regular flexibility and commitment to work days, evenings and weekends.
Basic Annual Leave: / 27 days plus designated B/H allowance
Purpose: / Working withthe most disaffected and disengaged young people across multiple settings in their community, within the framework of Enthusiasm, the Local Youth and Community Lead will be a real team player who can demonstrate high quality youth work, frontline management and leadership skills and/or experience, matched with an enthusiastic, committed and compassionate aptitude.
You will intentionally build meaningful relationships and createsafe spaces where young people canfully engage, develop and reach their true potential.
You will manage the local team of staff and volunteers; recruiting, training, and developing our pool of multi generational volunteers.
They must be willing to embrace the vision and behaviours of Enthusiasm.
Roles and Duties:
Main / By being the main contact for the community, you will attend appropriate local meetings.
You will plan and deliver high quality and appropriate interventions, youth clubs and community activities throughout the year.
You will provide quality mentoring to a specific workload.
As the Local Youth and Community Lead you will be responsible for the effective management of the quality performance of your team, and report accordingly.
You will actively encourage young people to participate in all programmes offered.
Leading Youth Club & Community Activities / To plan and deliver 3+ youth clubs or community activities per week throughout the year to match young people’s expectations and contractual obligations.
Mentoring / You will be a positive and experienced mentoring role model to your team, providing peer mentoring where appropriate.
To enable young people to take more control over their lives and make informed choices
Safeguarding / You will be the frontline safeguarding lead for your team, reporting all matters to the main safeguarding lead and ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures.
A crucial aspect of your role is the awareness of the risks to colleagues, mentees and yourself; ensuring that all necessary actions are undertaken.
Administration,Reporting and Recording / To complete sessions plans for youth clubs and community activities
Completion of assessments, action plans, interventions logs, reports and any other required documentation to a high standard
Data collection and reporting; such as registers for youth clubs and community activities, community questionnaires, case studies and funding reports)
To accurately record, monitor and evaluate work with young people
To provide accurate information and advice about issues and services relevant to the health and social needs of young people
Completion of monthly Project Progress Reports ensuring stakeholder outcomes are clearly communicated.
Ensure quality of Team folders
Monitoring & Evaluation / Smart KPI’s will be agreed and set with YSM/Regional Lead
Agree and incorporate SMART KPI’s in the teams activities, ensuring completion of reports and performance reviews.
Communication / Provide the ethos within the team for clear, concise dialogue and feedback.
Health and Safety / Ensure that appropriate regular risk assessments are undertaken for all work.
Highlight and appropritately action any Health & Safety concerns in a timely manner and in accordance with our policies and procedures
Finance / You will work with the Youth Service Manager/ Regional Lead to:
Particpate in the setting and distribution of budgets; and monitor performance highlighting variance at the earliest opportunity.
Ensure expences are appropriate and fully monitored – using best practice to minimise cost.
Be responsible for the petty cash operation within your team.
Other / Undertake any reasonable activity or request as directed by Management.

Person Specification

Skills and Abilities /
  • Experienced NVQ Level 3 (or similar) leader, with at least 3 years’ youth and/or community work or similar
  • Ability to build constructive relationships with young people and local communities
  • Effective communication skills including listening skills, report writing and presentations
  • Initiative and the ability to progress work tasks without day to day supervisionwith varied workloads
  • Ability to work with and managemulti-disciplinary teams and their specific
requirements
  • Proficient in using IT including email and Microsoft packages
  • Must be driven and solution focussed with a genuine commitment to lead by example and demonstrate the Trusts DNA in your work

Knowledge /
  • Understanding of the needs of disengaged and /or disadvantaged young people
  • Understanding of standard mentoring practices
  • An understanding of dignity at work and child protection/safeguarding practices and directives

Experience /
  • Substantial experience of working with disadvantaged young people
  • Experience of working with an integrated processes framework, including involvement in detailed assessments (CAF/Early Help Assessments)
  • Experience of planning/developing programmes of work with young people
  • Experience of planning youth clubs and community activities/events
  • Experience of data/evidence collection and quality report writing

  • Acceptable enhanced DBS clearance (formerly CRB check)
  • Full Driving License and First Aid Certificate essential
