Entertaining Elements in Mean Girls[WRDSB1]

Mean Girls is one of the only movies that has many entertaining elements but at the same time portrays the topic of anti-bullying. The romance in the film keeps you on the edge of your seat because of how dramatic it can be and it keeps the audience wondering if Cady and Aaron will get together. The humour in this film does a great job of entertaining the audience and making them laugh but ties back to the topic of anti-bullying very well. Lastly, the suspense in Mean Girls always has the audience thinking about what event might happen next[WRDSB2]. Mean Girls is an entertaining film because of its romance, humour and suspense[WRDSB3].

First of all, the romance in the movie Mean Girls is very entertaining because it keeps the audience wondering what is going to happen next in each character’s life[WRDSB4]. Some of the romance can be confusing at times and it can be hard to follow but in the end it makes sense. For example, Regina’s ex-boyfriend had caught the attention of Cady but Regina did not like that so she purposely got back together with him making Cady jealous. Later, Cady told Aaron that Regina was cheating on him and near the end of the film Cady and Aaron end up getting together[WRDSB5]. In the end, the romance in this film is a big part in keeping the audience guessing just because the relationships are always changing[WRDSB6].

Another element in Mean Girls that keeps it entertaining is humour. The humour is constantly hilarious but it does not take it too far because that might portray that bullying is okay but the movie is clearly telling the audience that it is not okay. For instance in the film, there is the scene at the talent show where Damien was singing and just because he is gay someone feels that they could throw a shoe at him. In return, Damien takes the shoe and throws it right back. While watching the movie, you think it is funny at first but when you really think about it, you think how Damien must feel about what happened, and then you realize it was not funny but very mean. The film uses humour in the best ways at the best times because it ties all of it to anti-bullying[WRDSB7]. This is just one more aspect that makes Mean Girls entertaining.

One of the biggest parts in making Mean Girls entertaining is suspense[WRDSB8]. During the film, the audience knows certain things that characters in the movie do not know about which creates suspense. As an example, Cady and her friends make a plan from the start for Cady to go under-cover as a plastic so she can find their weaknesses. This plan creates a lot of suspense because the audience is constantly wondering if Regina will find out about Cady’s plan, or what is going to happen because Regina does not know about it. Suspense is a really big factor that makes Mean Girls entertaining because it keeps the audience on the edge of their seats.

The movie Mean Girls would not be anywhere near as entertaining as it is if it were not for the romance, the humour, or the suspense[WRDSB9]. The romance is what keeps the audience wondering what will happen next. The humour is what keeps the audience laughing constantly. Finally, the suspense keeps the audience on the edge of their seats the whole time[WRDSB10]. In the end, all these elements make Mean Girls a great movie that will never grow old.
