PRIME Advantage Medical Network

a Medical Provider Network (MPN)

A safe working environment is our number one priority. However, should an accident or injury occur we want to ensure that our employees receive prompt effective medical treatment. Our goal is to assist injured employees in making a full recovery and returning to their job as soon as possible.

SB 899, signed into law by Governor Schwarzenegger on April 19, 2004, provides all California employers the ability to establish Medical Provider Networks any time on, or after January 1, 2005.

enter employer name has submitted a Medical Provider Network application to the Administrative Director (AD) of the Department of Workers’ Compensation (DWC). Once our application is approved we will be notifying all employees with the effective date. We anticipate approval within the next 60 days and an effective date within the next 90 days.

We believe that by establishing a medical provider network we can continue to deliver prompt, effective and high quality medical treatment to our injured employees while taking measures to counter the continuing rising costs of medical treatment. To do anything else would be fiscally irresponsible.

Key Features of our Medical Provider Network (MPN)

Ø  The name of our MPN is the PRIME Advantage Medical Network, which is a partnership with Keenan & Associates.

Ø  Employees will have the option of predesignating their personal treating physician in compliance with L.C. 4600 (must be their primary care physician who retains their medical history and records and agrees to be predesignated).

Ø  Employees whom elect not to predesignate with a primary treating physician will be referred for treatment to a provider within the MPN.

Ø  After the initial treatment with the district referred MPN provider, the employee does have the right to change physicians but must remain within the MPN.

Ø  If the employee disagrees with the diagnosis or treatment they have the right to seek a second and third opinion from a provider within the MPN. After the third opinion the employee has the right to request an Independent Medical Review (IMR) by a physician appointed by the Administrative Director (AD).

Ø  Employees will be given notification material once our MPN application is approved which will detail all their rights, their responsibilities and how they can obtain a copy of the providers within the MPN.

Ø  Workers’ Compensation claims administration through Keenan & Associates will continue without interruption.
