“WhenthePhilistinesheardthatDavidhadbeenanointedking overIsrael,theywentupinfullforcetosearchforhim,but Davidheard aboutitandwentdowntothestronghold.Nowthe PhilistineshadcomeandspreadoutintheValleyofRephaim;soDavidinquiredoftheLORD,"ShallIgoandattackthePhilistines?Willyouhandthemoverto me?" The LORD answered him, "Go, for I will surely hand thePhilistinesovertoyou."SoDavidwenttoBaalPerazim,andtherehedefeatedthem.Hesaid,"Aswatersbreakout,theLORDhasbrokenoutagainstmyenemiesbeforeme." Sothatplace wascalledBaalPerazim.ThePhilistines abandonedtheiridolsthere,andDavidandhismen carriedthemoff.OncemorethePhilistinescameupandspreadoutin the Valley of Rephaim; so David inquired of the LORD, and he answered,"Donotgostraightup,butcirclearoundbehindthemandattack theminfrontofthebalsamtrees.As soonas you hearthe sound of marchinginthe topsofthebalsamtrees, movequickly,because thatwillmeantheLORDhasgoneoutinfrontofyoutostrikethePhilistinearmy."SoDaviddidastheLORDcommandedhim,andhestruckdownthe PhilistinesallthewayfromGibeontoGezer.”(2Samuel5:17-25)

Whatdoyouthinktoyourself,underwhomyouaremovingand who isdirectingtheaffairsofyourlife.Howyoumanagethecrossroadsthatyoufacedailyandhowyoumakeyourchoices?ThelordJesusChristpromisedHisdisciplesthefollowing:"Ihavetoldyou thesethings,sothatinmeyoumayhavepeace.Inthis worldyouwillhavetrouble.Buttakeheart!Ihaveovercometheworld."(John16:33)Jesuspromisedthattherewill betroubles,problems,andevenenemies,buthemadeitcleartoeveryonethat he overcomes the world, and the power of darkness, so we can overcome.ThelordJesusChristcamedownfromheaven.Hediedonthecrossforoursins,Hewasburiedbutrosefromthedeadonthethirddayto give eternallifetothose whobelieveinHimandfollowHisstepsintheirlive.

ThescripturethatweusespeaksaboutthelifeofDavid.Afterhe wasanointedaskingoverthepeopleofGodhewasattackedbytheenemy,thephilistine.Thatteachesyouthatwhen you areanointedwith theHolySpiritto doGod’sworktheenemywillopposeyouandfight againstyouwithfullforcesbecausetheyareagainstGodandagainstHisworks.TheycameupsearchingforDavidinfullforce,tooppose thetaskthatGodentrustedto him.Davidheardaboutthatandhewentdowntothestrongholdnothidingbecauseheisafraidbuthe wenttheresohewillhavetimeandspaceto enquirefromthelord.Thatwhatweneedtodowhenwefaceabigtrouble,wehavetolaythiswholeissueinfrontofthe lordandenquireofHimofhowtodealwiththesituationasDavidenquiredofthelord,“SoDavidinquiredoftheLORD,"ShallIgoandattackthePhilistines?Willyouhandthem overtome?"TheLORDansweredhim,"Go,forIwillsurelyhandthePhilistinesoverto you.” (2Samuel5:19)

DavidaskedGodspecificquestionsthatguidedhim todecideclearlywhatheneedtodo.Thesameforustoday,we havea certainissueand weneedtodecideabout it.WehavetoenquiredofGodaboutthematterandaskHimquestionsthatarecriticalandpertinenttotheproblemthatwhenGodanswerusthenthatwillbethetimeforustomoveonthegroundandachievethetaskentrusttousandreceivedthevictorythatwehaveinChristJesusour lord.WhenweenquireofGod,andwhentheLordHimselfgivesustheprovetogoforward,Hewillnotleaveusalone butHewillgoaheadofusandfightthebattleforus.DavidmovedafterhegotthepermissionfromGod, and theLorddefeatedhisenemiesaswaterbreakout,thereforethiswhatDavidsaid,“Aswatersbreakout,theLORDhasbrokenoutagainstmy enemiesbeforeme."SothatplacewascalledBaalPerazim.”(2Samuel15:20)IfwewantourenemiestobedefeatedweneedtoenquireofGod beforewedoanythingand wait forHiscorrect andexactanswer.

ForsecondtimeDavidwasattackedby thesame enemy,thephilistine,butbeforehedidanythingheenquiredoftheLordagain.Insuchawayhedidtherightthing. Sometimewhenweface problemsandwesolveifafterweenquireof theLord,thesameproblemmayberepeatedwiththesamepeopleorwithsomeotherpeople.Butthesolutionforthisnewproblemisnotthesame solutionforthepreviousproblemevenifwearedealingwiththesamepeople.Weneedtoenquireofthelord againtolead us anddirect usofhowto deal with thenewandfreshproblem.

TrulyDavidfacedtheenemyagainforthesecondtimeandhedidnotfailto enquire oftheLordandGodtoldhim“Donotgostraightup,butcirclearoundbehindthemandattacktheminfrontofthebalsamtrees.”GodshowedDavidthatheshouldtakedifferentdirectionandHegaveDavidtheexacttimewhenheneedsto attacktheenemy.HeclearlydescribedtoDavidthefollowing:“Assoonasyouhearthesoundofmarchinginthetops ofthebalsamtrees,movequickly,becausethatwillmeantheLORDhasgoneoutinfrontofyoutostrikethePhilistinearmy.”(2Samuel 5:24)GodgaveDavid veryaccuratethingsandhewillgiveusthesamedetails,theexacttimeplaceanddirection,andevenmoreifwewillnotneglecttoenquireofthelordandaskedofHimthepermissiontogoonand inviteHimto gobefore us,andahead ofusto fightthe enemyon ourbehalf;Hewillgive usallwhatweenquire ofandmorethanthat, thevictoryoverthe enemy.

Mydearandbeloved:The lordJesussaid,“Cometome,allyou who arewearyandburdened,andIwillgiveyourest.”(Matthew11:28)Manyofyourtroublesandthedifficultiesthatyoufaceinyourlifearebecauseyouhadnotyetcometothelord. Or youdidn’taskof theLord orenquired ofhow to solvetheproblemwhenyoufacetroubles.Butnowitistherighttimeforyoutorepentfromsuchkindofsin andrelyfullyonGodandenquireofHimin regardtoallwhatyoufacefromtroubles.ThenHewillbetheonetoguideyouinallyourstrugglesandgiveyouall what youneed,anddirectsyouinallwhatyououghttodo as youagreeto pray.
