Rules and Regulations

Goals and Purpose

·  To represent Enloe High School in a positive manner at all times on or off campus

·  To promote and uphold school spirit and pride

·  To develop and maintain sportsmanlike conduct among athletes and students

·  To build better relationships between schools

·  To work hard and give total commitment to Enloe Cheerleading

·  To respect my squad and coaches for their hard work and determination

·  To have fun and make memories that will last a lifetime

Requirements

·  Have an overall GPA of 1.5

·  Have a current Wake County Sports Participation Form and current physical

·  Not be involved in any other activity, in or out of school, preventing attending all practices,

games and competitions throughout the season

·  Be covered by some type of insurance

·  Be able to and are required to physically participate in every aspect of cheerleading

·  Required to attend all practices, regular season games, reschedule games, post season games

and competitions

Equipment

·  Each cheerleader is responsible for the equipment and uniform checked out to him/her at the

beginning of the year or any uniforms in their possession now

·  Cheerleaders are responsible for purchasing their own practice/camp clothing, briefs, shoes,

warm ups, bags, poms and ribbons

·  Equipment is required to be turned in to the coaching staff at a designated time and place.

Failure to do so will result in the school charging the student for the equipment/uniform and

not participating in the next season

·  Alterations may be made to uniforms as long as they are professionally tailored and the

uniform is not cut in any way. Repair of improper alterations or cutting will result in charging

the student for replacing the uniforms.

·  Each cheerleader is required to make sure their uniform is clean for each and every game

·  The following items should be kept in cheer bag at all times:

Shoes Socks Warm Ups/Rain Gear Poms

Crop Tops Hair Ribbons Briefs Bags

ONLY ENLOE APPROVED ITEMS ARE ALLOWED

Sportsmanship

·  Cheerleaders should always cheer in a positive manner. It is inappropriate to cheer against the other

·  team or to cheer in response to an opposing player’s mistake

·  No actions by the cheerleaders should be made to purposely distract the players

·  Cheerleaders should not yell or cheer while an opponent is shooting free throws or when the

quarterback is calling signals at the line of scrimmage

·  Opposing players, officials and the fans should be treated with respect and dignity

·  Cheerleaders should not cheer when an opposing player makes a mistake, is injured or when an

opposing player is being penalized

·  Cheerleaders should stand at attention when the National Anthem is being played and when the

opposing team is in lineup

General Appearance

·  Each cheerleader is required to follow the dress code established by the school

·  Each cheerleader is to wear assigned attire at practice, games and competitions

Practices

·  ONLY designated practice clothes are to be worn at each practice

·  Cheerleading shoes are worn at each practice with socks

·  Hair must be neatly pulled back in a ponytail off the face and shoulders

·  No jewelry, gym or nail polish (this includes any body piercing jewelry anywhere on your body)

·  Nails must be trimmed so they cannot be seen palm side up

·  No glitter or tattoos

·  Competition cheer shoes are not to be worn to school or outside of practice, game and competition

·  Competition cheer shoes are not to be worn at games on rainy days

OUTSIDE ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING ALLSTAR CHEERLEADING, MUST BE SCHEDULED AFTER

PRACTICE. THESE ACTIVITIES MUST NOT INTERFERE WITH ENLOE CHEERLEADING

Games and Game Days

·  Designated attire is to be worn to school on game days – NO EXECPTIONS

·  Cheerleaders should arrive at school for each game (home or away) complete dressed for the game

·  No shoes other than cheerleading shoes with uniforms, no shells with shorts/warm up pants, etc

·  Cheerleaders are required to bring their poms, warm ups and crops to every game

·  Hair should be carefully put up into a neat curled ponytail with their game ribbon

·  No jewelry, gum or nail polish

·  No glitter of any kind

·  In case of game cancellation, ALL cheerleaders must be prepared to rearrange their personal

·  schedules to attend the rescheduled game. This means you must inform your job of this possibility!

·  NOTE: Coaches will not hold jewelry or any personal items for cheerleaders

General Rules

·  Enloe High School cheerleading must come first after academics

·  Any non-academic activity will not interfere with practices, games or competitions

·  Cheerleaders must be prepared to attend any games or competitions that are made up due to

weather

·  If a cheerleader is in need of academic assistance, he/she must use the non-practice days to

do so. If academic assistance is only provided on a practice day, the coaching staff must be

informed a minimum of one day in advance

·  Cheerleaders may not attend practice or cheer at a game if they are absent from school

·  If a cheerleader is sick and cannot come to school or checks out early from school, they must

contact the coaches through email immediately

·  Cheerleaders must bring a doctor’s note if they cannot participate in any aspect of practices,

games or competitions with a return to practice date

·  If you are injured during the season you are expected to attend all practices and games for

the remainder of the season

Automatic Dismissal

·  Failure to perform duties

·  Uncooperative Attitude

·  Unsportsmanlike behavior or disrespect towards teammates, coaches or opposing teams

·  Disrespect to Team captains or team leaders

·  Use of tobacco products, alcohol and/or drugs of any kind will not be tolerated at any time

·  Pregnancy

·  No Call, no show for practice or game

Action on the following Items will be taken at the discretion of the coaches

·  Not informing coach 24 hours prior to absence or tardiness

·  Not wearing correct uniform/practice clothes

·  Leaving practice early

·  Missing practice, games or competitions

·  Leaving cell phone on during practice

·  Answering or interrupting practice due to cell phone

·  ASD/ISS

·  Lateness

·  Chewing gum, wearing jewelry

·  Lending any uniform/practice pieces to any non-team member

·  Late pick up or drop off by your transportation

·  Personal Display of affection in practice clothes or uniform

·  Inappropriate personal behavior while on school grounds

·  Not fully participating in practice4

·  Talking or laughing, disrupting practice

·  Talking back to coaches or captains/board

These rules must be followed for an absence or tardy to be excused:

·  Must notify coach via email 24 hours prior to the day of absence or tardy

·  If tardy, must have a note from teacher stating reason for tardy with date and time

·  If absent, must have a doctors note with reason for absence and dated. Doctor’s note must

be presented within 48 hours of absence

These rules must be followed if injured at practice:

·  Must notify coach immediately that an injury has occurred at practice

·  Coach will then get school trainer to verify injury and tell athlete how to proceed

·  If athlete is told to go to doctor, return must be accompanied by a dated note from that doctor

with injury and return to practice instructions
