COURSE DESCRIPTION

Focuses on the major building systems including HVAC, water and waste, fire protection, electrical and structural.Introduces the Uniform Building Code, type of construction and history.Includes heat loss calculation and lateral loads and their resisting elements.Includes Earth work and Foundations.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Learn basic systems used in buildings
  • Describe common building systems
  • Learn the processes, organization, constraints, and choices in building systems
  • Introduction to the building HVAC, water and waste, fire protection, and electrical systems

ATTENDANCE, LATENESS

Class attendance is very important. Missing more than one week of class (two class periods) may result in a letter grade penalty. Always try to talk to the instructor in advance should you need to be absent. Students are expected to be on time to class.

TUTORING CENTER:

Tutoring is available in the Drafting Lab (see lab monitor schedule). TDR 109 is a lab designed to give you assistance in your Architecture Engineering Drafting classes.
