Director, Human Resources
Help Our World Alliance
21111 Century Freeway North
Whitman, OH 44199

Dear Mr. Nishida:

I am writing to apply for the position of office assistant at the Help Our World Alliance as a work-study employee. When I learned of the position through the Directory of Work-Study Opportunities on the Whitman County website, I immediately saw that the job matches my interests and skills.

As the attached resume shows, I have a strong commitment to public service. As a volunteer in the recent mayoral election, I communicated effectively with the public and was a valued member of an issues-oriented team. Shortly after beginning an internship at WhitmanMonthly, I suggested an improvement to the magazine’s database, and my idea was put into practice. These experiences have taught me about working with groups of people, following established procedures, and using initiative to further an organization’sgoals.

I am a student at Ohio Online High School, with a 3.67 grade point average. I expect to attend college beginning in September and plan to major in environmental studies. A work-study position at Help Our World Alliance would immerse me in the practical side of my chosen field, and I would bring prior experience as well as enthusiasm to your office.

Like many other people, I am grateful for your commitment to helping students pursue their education as well as for your efforts to improve the planet. It would be a privilege for me to make a positive difference in our world while earning my way through college. I look forward to hearing from you about an interview. Please contact me at 216-555-8932 or . Alternatively, I will call you in a week. Thank you for considering my application.

Sincerely,

Emily Escamilla
