Discussed the purpose of ELAC and the different responsibilities of the Chairperson and DELAC Representatives. No nominations were presented to elect a chairperson. Parents were unable to commit to DELAC representatives at this time but will check their availability and get back to Mrs. Vollmer

  1. ELD/CELDT/Rosetta StoneMrs. Prosser

Ms. Prosser described how students are identified as ELD learners and the assessment process. The goal is for all students to become advance language proficient by 5th grade. During the month of September students were given the CELDT test and results should be in by December. Students who do not reclassify will be assessed annually. She described the Rosetta Stone program for students who are at the level 1 or level 2 and provided a copy of the link for parents to access at home. Mrs. Prosser provides support for those students who need help completing the Rosetta Stone program.

Presented school wide goals in ELA, Math and intervention. Asked for any input or changes to proposed goals. Parents are very pleased with the school and programs that are offered. Many of them reported on the great progress their child has made and appreciate the hard work of the teachers.

Described the different ways that the program is presented at each grade level

Parent asked about reclassification. Described how students in different grade levels are eligible for reclassification. Mrs. Prosser also described the monitor process for students who have reclassified over a two year period.

  1. EIA Funding and its purposeMrs. Vollmer

Reviewed the different budget lines and amount of money the school is given for each program. Discussed the different programs, services and supplies that are purchased with EIA funding.

  1. ELAC advice to Principal and staff on efforts to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.

Attendance reports show that students are regularly attending school. Reviewed the importance of being in class on time and impact of absences. Students who have excessive absences or tardies receive warning letters and may have to attend a SARB meeting if attendance does not improve.
