1.  Use Foucault’s Panopticon from Discipline and Punish toconstruct an essay that addresses how technology functions as a Panopticon citing specific examples from relevant outside sources. Address toward the end of the essay whether or not social media serves as a global village or a prison.

2.  Research how social media is used for social movements (#BlackLivesMatter, #OWS, and #NODAPL are a few examples). Discuss how hashtags are used, how meetings and protests are arranged, and how such movements gain momentum. Did major news outlets pick up information from social media? Point to some newspapers and newscasts to support this. You do not have to limit yourself to twitter.

3.  Write an essay that assesses students’ reliance on text messaging and social media as their primary source for news of the world rather than mainstream news sources. Look at who owns the major TV and newspaper outlets. Who controls the news? What does a social medium allow us to do outside of the major news networks?

4.  Discuss the current state of higher education relevant to the Millennial Generation. Discuss implications of student loan debt. Possibly offer solutions in regards to debt and/or funding.

5.  Develop an argument as to answer the question: What is the goal of a liberal arts education?

6.  How does the Millennial Generation construct identity? Do they lead double lives? Discuss the implications of living online versus real life. Does this sort of technological interaction change the way we construct personality, how we handle emotions, or how we decide self-worth?
