* Overview *

It is our privilege to present this course in Literature, language and composition for a 18thyear in LCPS.We wish to take this opportunity at the outset, speaking to both parent and student, to stress that this is a most significant year in the intellectual and emotional development of a young person.Habits of work, academic habits, must be firmly established by the end of the sophomore year.We promise both that British Literature will be fun AND that students will be held to high standards of work, mental focus, and behavior.

Academic English for the 10thgrade is a course based on intensive reading, writing skills, and vocabulary.

The goal is to provide the ground work in the English language for success in the competitive worlds of post-secondary education and work.

All assignments – diagnostic, formative, and summative – will appear in the Phoenix gradebook.The due dates will be recorded the day the assignment is given.

We will be communicating with parents and students through the Phoenix gradebook email function.
