NOTES

General

Please remind children that:

  • COMPETITORS ARE EXPECTED TO BE EXPERIENCED IN THEIR EVENT(please do not enter students who do not know what they are doing just to fill places/have a go)
  • Competitors must be suitably attired in athletics kit during competition. Other “dress” will not be acceptable and will lead to disqualification.
  • Only competitors and officials are allowed on the competition areas.
  • NO BALL GAMES are allowed at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre.
  • The 800 metre races will be in lanes for the first bend.
  • It is the responsibility of all Heads of P.E. to ensure that their listed officials know the rules of the events they are judging.
  • Timekeepers must bring a reliable stopwatch.
  • Officials on field events marked + are responsible for collecting the card for their event from the Officials Field Cabin (next to throws cage), and returning the completed card to the same place.
  • Officials must report and sign in at the Officials Field Cabin on arrival.
  • Athletes Call Up - all competitors must report 15 minutes before their event time as follows:

FIELD EVENTS – to the competition area

TRACK EVENTS – to the start area

RELAY HEATS – to the patio area by the Indoor Centre

NO WARM UPS ARE TO BE DONE ON THE COMPETITION AREAS

Presentation of Medals and Certificates

  • Medals will be awarded immediately after each event.
  • The first three competitors in each event will be given a slip of paper indicating that they are to receive a medal. Medals will be issued from the Reception area. Should a competitor lose his/her slip of paper a member of staff must collect the medal(s) at the end of the meeting.
  • Medals will be presented to all relay teams that finish in 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions.

TRACK TIMETABLE

Staff and pupils should listen carefully for the EVENT NUMBER called by the announcer.

  • Track finals will be run at the heat time if entries are insufficient, except relays.
  • If two heats are required then the first two in each heat plus the next four fastest losers qualify for the final
  • If more than two heats, then the winner of each heat plus the fastest losers qualify for the final
  • If times are equal then the better placed athlete qualifies for the final
  • A reserve will be allocated – they will report to the final and may run if there is an absentee at the immediate start of the race
