End of Year Event Information
Let’s end our first grade year with some fun! Each day will have a theme, so be sure to post this information in a place where you will remember it!
Monday, June 2nd – Field Day
Students will participate in many events planned by our P.E. staff. Please come prepared with sneakers, sunscreen, water bottle, towel, and a hat. They will be outside all morning and will do tug-of-war in the gym at 12:30. Parents are invited.
Thursday, June 3rd – Beach Day
Bring a beach towel, hat, sunglasses, and a favorite book for some beach reading. We will enjoy some reading time outside as we relax in the sun! We will leave the beach towels at school all week, in case we have other moments to enjoy time outside again! We will also need the towels next week for our End of Year Party!
Wednesday, June 4th – Classroom Talent Show
This is a day to share a talent or hobby with the class. You may perform a talent (dancing, singing, gymnastics) or bring something that shows your talent (sports trophy, artwork). You could even tell a joke, read a short story, or show pictures of something you can do. We could go inside or outside to accommodate your talents. You may not bring a pet! Ask Mrs. Laparra if you have questions about the talent you want to share.
Thursday, June 5th – Memory Pages
Today, we will work on filling out memory pages about our year in first grade. We will take our own class picture and picture with the teachers. Please bring a special ink pen to use as we sign the autograph page in our memory books!
Friday, June 6th – Board Game Day
You may bring a board game or card game to share with the class. We will spend most the morning playing games with each other. Be sure to write your name on the box so we don’t get the games mixed up! You will be responsible for teaching others the correct rules for playing. The games will go home that day.
Monday, June 9th – Class Superlatives and Summer B-Day Celebration
On this day, I will give some superlatives, such as “math whiz,” or best handwriting” to each student. Each student will receive a certificate and get a good laugh. Also, as promised, we will be celebrating any birthdays that occur over the summer. Also, we will sing to each student and have a treat!
Tuesday, June 10th – End of the Year Party Day
We will have half-hour rotations with the other first grade students in the morning. After lunch, we will head outside for more rotations, including sprinklers, water balloons, and a frozen treat! Wear comfy clothes and sneakers for playing outside. Students may wear a swimsuit under their clothes. They will get wet in our water activities. They will also need a towel and a change of clothes. Come with sunscreen, already applied, and a hat and sunglasses, if necessary.
Wednesday, June 11th – Last Day of School!!!!!
Gator Gathering will be at 8:15. You may take your child home with you following the assembly.
