  1. Once you have completed questions 1-15 of the Employment Standards Act #1 please respond to each of the “situations” outlined in the Employment Standards Act #2

Using the Guide to the Employment Standards Actto identify and explain your answers the following questions. Answer the questions on a separate piece of paper.

  1. What are ‘Minimum Daily Rates of Pay’?
  1. Can an employer pay less than minimum wage if they are also paying commission (sales) or tips (waiters)?
  1. Can an employer hire a 13-year-old?
  1. Can an employer charge you for your uniform?
  1. Does an employer have to give you a break in a four-hour shift?
  1. What is BC's minimum wage?
  1. If you work for an employer for a year, how many days of vacation will you get each year?
  1. How long does an employee have to work to receive a meal break?
  2. What days are considered statutory holidays in British Columbia? [*a NEW stat holiday has been added to February…]
  1. What eligibility requirements does an employee have to meet to be entitled to a paid day off on a statutory holiday?
  1. To what is an eligible employee entitled if they work on a statutory holiday?
  1. Does the employer have to pay for meal breaks? Explain.
