Good Beer Guide launch shows you where to find a good pint in the Aldershot

Embargoed until Thursday 15th September

Surrey Hampshire Borders Branch of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale, is launching the 44th Edition of the Good Beer Guide. The launch will take place at the Imperial Standard, Aldershot at 8pm on Thursday 15th September at 8 p.m.

The Guide lists 4500 pubs, clubs and off licences around the country where you can be guaranteed an excellent pint of beer. The Guide demonstrate the diversity of dichotomy of places in the local area where good beer can be found. Picturesque country pubs, suburban community pubs and town centre ale houses all feature and there is even a railway social club.

Across the whole of the Surrey Hampshire Borders area, there are 35 pubs and 1 club listed, including 6 new entries. Two of the new entries are within Aldershot including a first ever entry in the Guide for the West End community pub the Imperial Standard where the 2017 edition of the Guide will be launched. There is also a welcome return to the Guide after an absence of 3 years for the Garden Gate. These two pubs are joined by long time Good Beer Guide entrant the White Lion. Owned by Triple fff Brewery 2017 marks its 10th consecutive entry in the country's best-selling Beer Guide.

Kevin Travers the Branch Pubs Officer said, “It fantastic we have been able to recognise the quality of 3 pubs in Aldershot, all of which are pubs deeply rooted in their local community. Being owned by local brewery Triple FFF we always expect the White Lion serves the excellent range of beers it does, but I'm really pleased that we are also able to recognise the Imperial Standard for the first time. Despite only serving 1 or 2 real ales Lucie Spooner's beer is always in excellent quality. Equally I'm also delighted that the Garden Gate is back it the Guide. In the past 2 years, Bob Swann has really turned the pub around, after we were concerned it could close. He has increased the beer range and introduced a regular local beer from Surrey Hills.”

The guide also contains information about the 6 local breweries, describes their regular beers and lists plenty of pubs where their beers can be found. The breweries are:
