Receives AHIMA Triumph Award

ATLANTA – Oct. 28, 2013 –HIPAA Collaborative of Wisconsin (HIPAA COW) was honored with the Champion Advocacy and Public Policy, a Triumph Award, as part of theAmerican Health Information Management Association's (AHIMA) 85th Annual Convention and Exhibit in Atlanta. The Triumph Awards recognize excellence, dedication and service of health information management (HIM) professionals who have made outstanding contributions to the field.Nancy Davis, Sturgeon Bay, and Chrisann Lemery, Janesville, accepted the award as HPAA COW Board members and AHIMA members.

HIPAA COW has become the “go-to” HIPAA resource in Wisconsin for educational programs. It is recognized on the national level for creating a foundation for healthcare entities as they work to provide consistent practices for patients regardless of where they are treated. This has been done via semi-annual conferences, ongoing networking group efforts, webinars, and the publication of numerous documents and deliverables on its website. The vast array of professions attending educational sessions, numerous participants in workgroups, and returning nationally-recognized speakers at meetings (i.e., OCR) substantiate how effective this collaboration has become, allowing these healthcare entitiesto develop and implement strong policy.

HIPAA Collaborative of Wisconsin (HIPAA COW) was one of 12 honored by AHIMA.
