Dear Colleagues:

Meet Riley, a real CFC charity recipient. Riley has Type 1 diabetes (note the bracelet?). But as you can see, he lives a healthy, active lifestyle. When Riley was diagnosed, three different CFC organizations came to his aid: a children’s hospital, a diabetes research organization, and a therapy animals organization. Since then, Riley has reached into his own piggy bank more than once to make a donation, because he knows what it’s like to feel alone and scared … and he wants to help.

January 12 is the last day for you to help through the CFC by [making an online pledge]. Why should you give through the CFC? Because it feels good? Because it’s the right thing to do? Well, yes. But here’s another reason: insurance. Your donation helps guarantee that organizations like those mentioned above are there for us when (not if) the time comes that we need them.

The CFC is efficient and effective. Its charities are screened every year by Federal employees. But the CFC doesn’t help people … YOU help people. The CFC only exists to make helping others easy. How much you give doesn’t matter—any amount helps.Remember: “It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do little — do what you can.” -- Sydney Smith
