Scholarship Value: $1,500

(1 scholarship each – Elkhorn High & Elkhorn South senior)

Western Douglas County Rotary is a member of Rotary International, a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Its universal motto is “Service Above Self”. Rotary International supports four areas of community service: scholarships, literacy programs, humanitarian assistance and worldwide eradication of water-borne diseases. Rotary’s ideals of truth and fairness guide its decisions and direct its global mission.

In addition to the stated criteria, the Western Douglas County Rotary Scholarship will be awarded to the student that best exemplifies the ideals of Rotary International. Students are encouraged to visit the Rotary website prior to completing their application.

Deadline: Monday, February 1, 2016 (SubmitApplications by 3:30 pm to the High School Counseling Center)

Criteria for scholarship:

3.0 or better GPA

Full-time attendance at a 2-year or 4-year regional college or University (Nebraska, South Dakota, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri or Iowa), to include Community College or Junior College.

Demonstrated record of participation in school and community activities

Demonstrated interest in serving others, through volunteer service

Scholarship winners are required to accept their award in person, at a regular meeting of the Western Douglas County Rotary – Elkhorn Common Ground (date to be determined)
