Parent Teacher Conferences

Forms have been sent home to schedule parent/teacher conferences. Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled November 17 through November 19 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please know that our 1st Trimester ends Tuesday, November 24 and it is very important your child’s teacher sit down with you and discuss progress. The communication and interaction between teacher and parent is vital. If you have not responded back with a meeting time, please do so as soon as possible. We look forward to meeting with you. Please make this a priority for your son or daughter. We will be providing a babysitting service in our cafeteria if you need help with younger children during your conference time. Our Kindergarten Bookfair will be open to parents on Tuesday and Wednesday 4:00p.m. until 7:00 p.m. during conference week. Thanks. See you at the conferences.

Special Testing/Academic Programs Offered

The Elida Kindergarten is continuing several important programs this year to help all children learn successfully. The programs target children who need academic and behavioral support to be successful in school. The academic progress-monitoring tool is called the Aimsweb Program. It monitors early literacy learning and early numeral recognition. We also will use the Earobics Program to support phonics, which will help in the reading process. We also have a school-wide behavioral program in place that will target certain key behavior themes. We will use those themes all over the school to promote positive behavior. Successful behavior, combined with academic initiatives, should help develop the learning process for successful progress for all students.

Veteran’s Day

Parents, as you are aware, Veteran’s Day this year is Wednesday, November 11. The Elida Kindergarten would like to honor our Veterans, as well as those serving in the military now. We will be discussing Veteran’s Day and its importance throughout the next few days to help the children become more aware and sensitive to what it means to be a Veteran. We are asking that you please fill out the attached form or write on a separate piece of paper. We will then honor those named on “Our Wall of Heroes”. Thank You. As parents, your help is always greatly appreciated!

Picture Retakes Scheduled

If you found that your student’s pictures taken earlier in the school year were not to your liking or if your student was absent that day, please request or have your student pick up a retake packet. Retakes will be Thursday, November 5.

Bad Weather – Delays and Closings

When bad weather causes the Elida Schools to delay or cancel, the Elida School’s First Alert Messaging Program should contact you. Please also watch Lima WLIO television for the latest information. Please do not call school. Please don’t drop off your student until you are sure we are in session. Thank you.
