Notes:

Today’s sharing call is about the installation of electric vehicle charging stations at PGH member facility Baptist Health South Florida. The topic of the charging stations should be part of an overall transportation program and an effort to reduce single vehicle car use, promote exercise and incentivize car pooling.

Considerations: cost, fire safety, engineering, maintenance, location placement. There are also hybrid electric that use gas and electric.

More charging stations in community, more likely people will invest in the vehicles. Preferential parking for electric vehicles. Not charging users as of yet. Estimated cost is $.50. Connects using an industry standard connector (J1772). (see slides for details.)Notifies the user when it’s charged. They receive a text when it’s full. Looking into electric vehicles for fleets – interoffice shipping, staff transport. Various state and federal incentives. Some may charge in the future but mostly offer for free to date. Others looking at this include Palomar Pomerado, Providence Health & Services, Partners and more.
