SCHOOL BOARD GOALS JULY 2016

In order for the Board of Education to meet their primary objective of: “promoting excellence in a caring environment in which students learn and grow,” they have developed the following five goals -

BUILDING AND GROUNDS

  1. Replace Roof and Boiler

Action Plan:

  • Save money in CSFT fund to use toward paying for replacing roof and boiler
  • Wait for matching Building Grants from the Illinois State Board of Education
  • Investigate work done through Architect or Performance Contractor
  • Investigate Energy Efficiency Grants toward replacing boiler
  1. General Grounds Maintenance

Action Plan:

  • Add mulch or pea gravel under swings in the back
  • Trim limbs which are hanging over playground equipment
  • Replace wooden boards around playground equipment
  • Reseal blacktop behind building
  1. Building Maintenance

Action Plan:

  • To continue water tests and evaluation by the IDPH
  • Professional cleaning of the vent in the kitchen

CURRICULUM/TECHNOLOGY

  1. To update our technology in order to have students better prepared for high school.

Action Plan:

  • To provide technology that will discontinue the purchase of textbooks
  • Replace outdated computers
  • Add computers to grades 1-4, so students are able to use computers in a 1:1 environment
  • Upgrade the Server

2.To revise our curriculum in order to be aligned to the new Core Standards and be prepared with the technology required to the new state tests

Action Plan:

  • To allow staff to receive training on the new Core Standards and time to be able to do the revisions required
  • Change grading to a Standard Based Report Card for Grades K-4
  • Yearly implementation of Math, ELA standards to junior high starting Fall 2016 with 5th grade
  • Yearly implementation of Social Studies and Science Standards to K– 5th grade classes beginning Fall 2017.
  • To stay informed about the technology required for the new testing and match our technology purchases with the requirements

FINANCIAL

  1. Remain in Financial Recognition
  2. Maintain a Balanced District Budget
  3. Maintain Tax Levy Rate as long as the district’s EAV continues to increase
  4. Explore Options for paying for future building repairs

Action Plan:

  • To determine the funds required
  • Contact agencies for grants and financing

TRANSPORTATION

  1. Consideration of going to one bus route

Action Plan:

  • Should the State eliminate the transportation funding categorical
  1. Bus Contract

PERSONNEL

  1. Hire Certified Special Education Teacher if need should arise

Action Plan:

  • Investigate costs for a mobile classroom
  • Restructure classrooms, so Special Education Teacher is in the building
  • Move Kindergarten to Mobile Classroom
