Main Contacts:Board Members, Chief Executive, Senior Management Team, Funders, other Housing Associations, NHS Trusts, Voluntary Agencies, Residents and Tenants, Local Authorities, and Central Government bodies, working with Corporates.
JOB DESCRIPTION
OBJECTIVES OF POST
- To identify potential funding streams for Ekaya Housing Association and its subsidiary Nursery activities;
- To develop and implement fundraisingstrategies and plans, as well as associated marketing, and communications plans to deliver the fundraising strategy;
- To research the markets we currently operate in and advise on new business and related social policy developments;
- To write reports and policies to support new bids/business, particularly linked to the changing government social policy agenda
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
FUNDRAISING
- To identify potential funders for Ekaya Housing Association and its subsidiary Nursery’s activities using directories, monitoring media, visiting websites and attending events. To aim to understand the requirements of these funders and, where possible, get to meet and know the funders.
- To create funding bids that will secure contracts, grant funding and donations for projects that have been identified as a priority within the Business Plan. This will include ensuring that matched funding is in place and that, where feasible, core costs can be covered.
- To lead on income generation for the development of new projects that have been identified as a priority within the Business Plan. This will include identifying potential funders, briefing staff on development work required to support the bid and writing the application.
- To prepare and present project proposals to beneficiaries for their input and liaise over projects and funding information.
- To ensure the financial durability of all submitted bids by getting them approved by the Finance Team prior to submission.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & MARKETING
- To identify market segments of interest to the organisation and work with the Senior Management Team in actively developing business partnerships and networks.
- In partnership with the assigned Head of Service, to identify relevant marketing and communication needs to develop income generation opportunities; and to develop and implement these marketing and communications strategies and plans.
- To ensure that appropriate guidance and procedures are in place for staff dealing with the media.
- To write reports for the Board and Senior Management Team on fundraising and marketing.
DATABASE
- To develop and maintain Ekaya’s database of prospects and donors, including setting up systems to record contacts by all Ekaya staff with prospects and donors.
- To produce reports from the database on fundraising activities
- To monitor and evaluate progress towards income targets
- To be responsible for setting up and identifying groups, individuals and information to be included on the business contacts and expertise database, and the maintenance of the same.
- To ensure that appropriate systems are in place for the collection and completion of returns and performance measures to funders, including statutory funders.
MONITORING AND EVALUATION
- To be responsible for the measurement of Ekaya’s fundraising activities.
- To liaise between funders seeking evaluation information and project leads who can provide evaluation information on funded projects, and vice versa.
- To submit relevant reports to the Senior Management Team.
- To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post as agreed with the Chief Executive.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Pay
- Total annual remuneration package up to £50,000 (subject to meeting targets)
Holiday
- You are entitled to 20 days paid holiday per year plus bank and public holidays.
- The offices are closed between the Christmas and the New Year period and any days which are not bank or public bank holidays will be given in addition to your holiday entitlement.
Hours of work
- Between 9am and 5.30pm, 35hours per week.
- Some flexibility of working hours may be required in accordance with the needs of the organisation.
- Some flexibility in working hours may be negotiated to enable a better work/life balance or meet particular needs as required.
- Occasional travel to events may be required.
Pension
- Ekaya has designated a stakeholder person scheme that staff can join. Ekaya will make a contribution of 2% plus a matching contribution of a minimum of 1% into this scheme.
Probation
- There will be a six months’ probation period.
Notice Period:
- One calendar month on either side, after a satisfactory six month probationary period. During probation, notice will be one week on either side.
