EI/TEISS Course Redesign

Modules for Workshop 1 - EI Fundamentals

The redesign includes changing the paradigm from an “informational course” to a workshop in which participants will complete work products, guided by ITEP and other participants, in an informal, online, collaborative set of weekly webinars

Workshop 1-EI Fundamentals

Participants will complete a level 4 EI in this 6-webinar workshop (a level 4 EI is one that does not include gathering activity data and estimating emissions, but only lists sources and pollutants, with data obtained from EPA/nearby jurisdictions; this is also a necessary 1st step toward more specific EIs, for those who continue to the next workshop)

Module 1-Introduction to Course

  • Course logistics presentation.
  • Homework-Log into NAU server and download files. Evaluate work schedule. Install TEISS and email screen capture to instructors.

.

Module 2-Introduction to EIs

  • “Emissions Inventory Overview” presentation.
  • Homework-Writing 3 short sections, including the introduction, for your EI.

Module 3-Introduction to TEISS

  • Include a demonstration on TEISS. Instructors open an example existing project and show where to enter/find data in the different source categories. Show the TEISS reports.
  • Homework-Start a new TESS project and email screen capture of TEISS map to instructors.

Module 4-Importing NEI Data into TEISS

  • “Importing NEI Data from EIS into TEISS” presentation with a demonstration of the process.
  • Homework-Import NEI data into TEISS project. Before this module, ITEP provides the participants with the General Purpose Release data files. Email the instructors a screen capture of the map in TEISS when the data have been imported.

Module 5-Presenting Results

  • “Presenting Results Using TEISS and Emission Inventory Reports” presentation.
  • Homework-Develop the nonpoint section of your EI for off reservation sources. Email your EI to the instructors.

Module 6-GIS

  • Include a demonstration on importing and manipulating maps in TEISS.
  • Homework-In your TEISS project, modify your map to how you want it to look in your written report. Import the map into your EI. Develop the point section of your EI for off reservation sources. Email your EI to the instructors.
