EG6517 – Web/Literature Search
Introduction
The Internet provides a useful portal to both peer review journal articles (via the Web of Science and Science Direct) as well as authoritative materials from reputable University and Government sites. During your final year, you will be expected to make use mainly of journals – and also be aware of what is new and “cutting edge” in your areas of science. This practical will provide you with a means of generating a useful resource of journal articles and internet sites to aid you with further work and revision for the exams.
One useful strategy is to review the bibliographies attached to journal articles and follow up selected references from these. Most meteorological journals are available from either Manchester Metropolitan (Online and print), University of Manchester – John Rylands and the University of Liverpool – Sydney Jones Library.

[1] Today, you are required to locate as many articles and journal references as you can dealing with the following subjects:
- Natural climate forcing
- Anthropogenic climate forcing
- Dynamical climate modelling
- Statistical climate modelling
- Model assimilation
- Model parameterisation
- Ocean modelling
- Impacts of climate change
Keep a notebook specifically for your references and record them in the following way:
