EFFECTIVE EMPLOYMENT ADVERTISEMENTS

HOME INSPECTORS

Short, simple ads can be placed in the "Job Opportunities" section of your local newspapers. An example would be:

HOME INSPECTORS

ENGINEERS TO CONDUCT INSPECTIONS FOR HOME BUYERS; F-T or P-T; TRAINING PROVIDED; REWARDING WORK; SEND RESUME TO HouseMaster.

You may want to add "ideal for early retirees" to the ad when looking for part-timers. Early retirees usually have the maturity, experience and eagerness to be excellent inspectors plus their financial requirements are not as demanding. They are often looking for some rewarding, flexible work to keep them busy and get them out of the house. After all, how much golf can one play?

FULL TIME HELP WANTED

Note: It is generally helpful to say the company is a national firm or give the company name. This tends to give credibility to the ad and you will generally get a better quality response. It can be helpful to resist taking phone calls and only accept resumes. This makes the process easier on you and screens many respondents. You can also offer to receive resumes via e-mail or fax, again these methods can be time savers.

Generally, someone who is over qualified for a job will get bored and dissatisfied and leave when a better job comes their way.
