UMAHS Flex In-Service Days

2013-2014

3 Options:

  • There will be 4 after school workshops held during the 2013-2014 school year with information related to the Danielson Framework for teaching and student achievement. Each workshop will run for 1½ hours and have a 1½ hour independent assignment for a total of 3 flex hours. Sign up for these workshops will be through My Learning Plan. Teachers can participate in any or all of the 4 workshops. Participation in all 4 workshops will meet the full 12 hour flex requirement for the school year. Workshop dates:

  • Teachers can attend outside conferences or workshops that are related to the content they teach and address one of the 22 components of the Danielson Framework. Request for approval for these workshops or conferences should be through My Learning Plan. All requests must be pre-approved prior to participation in order to qualify for flex hours. Teachers are asked to identify the specific component of the Danielson Framework being addressed in the “Comments” field of the Request to Attend page in My Learning Plan.

Groups of teachers can work with the high school administration and/or curriculum office to design a summer professional development activity related to a specific course or grade level. Jonathan Bauer and Susan Silver must approve requests for this type of professional development by June 14th. Please fill out the Flex Project Proposal form in MLP. The request needs to include the following:

  • Activity title
  • Goals of the activity
  • Component of Danielson Framework being addressed
  • Relation to Keystone Exam eligible content and/or Common Core Standards
  • Detailed description of the activity
  • Anticipated end product
  • Teachers involved
  • Number of hours

All professional development activities must be related to the content area of the teachers involved and address one of the 22 components of the Danielson Framework.
