EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

BASIC RULES

● Allapplicants must conform to the rules of the Maple Leaf Alumni Association.

● Successful recipients must use the Scholarship within a two (2) year period from the year the scholarship was awarded. For example, if awarded in 2016, it must be used by December 2018 or it reverts back to the Maple Leaf Alumni Association.

● The applicant must provide a list of all scholarships applied for and amounts received. Total scholarship funds received is not to exceed tuition fees.

● Scholarship funds are for tuition fees only and applied to fees to a recognized post secondary institution and may not be applied to course books, parking fees etc.

● Applicant must be a high school graduate in the year that the scholarship is being applied for.

● The scholarship is a “one time” award. However, if a successful applicant should be attending a post secondary institution while still playing hockey for the Maple Leaf Athletic Club, he / she may apply for a second scholarship in the year that they graduate from the M.L.A.C.

● It is the responsibility of the player or parent to submit the application and course / mark transcript on time. Players, note that only one submission is required for any of the four scholarships available.

● Players should include within their information package, where applicable, letters of recommendation from schools and identify other extra curricular, volunteer work etc.

This year applications are to be submitted by February 15th 2016 and course / mark inquiries by March 7th, 2016.

SCHOLARSHIPS

There are several scholarships available through the Maple Leaf Alumni and the Athletic Clubfor Midget hockey players within the Maple Leaf Athletic Club. Players applying for scholarships must be planning on attending a post secondary institution to further their education.

Scholarships available are:

The Orrie Sollanych Memorial Scholarship

One (1) scholarship at $ 1,500.00

The Lorne Kaiser Memorial Scholarship

One (1) scholarship at $ 1,000.00

The Al Greene Memorial Scholarship

One (1) scholarship at $ 1,000.00

The Spartan’s Scholarship

One (1) scholarship at $ 1,000.00

●Criteria for scholarships are within this application package.

Application forms must be fully completed and submitted by the deadline of February 15th, 2016.

● A course / mark inquiry transcript must be submitted by March 7th, 2016 to validate application.
