Seconded: Malliga Nallu

Business arising from previous meeting:

1. The new school psychology survey done- see link

2. Enquiry from Shae Morrison (from ESNN) permitted to be on the Connect Community, so she can learn more to set one up for the North network.

3. Connect Community invitation to South Network Principals too. ESSN is leading the way.

4. Job freeze over 

5. Keep collecting information on appeals process

6. Workforce planning – do we still want to look at data across our sector? We would like to look at workers comp info too. How does this link to online critical incident reports? Andrew will create a draft and send to Ros and Steve.

Guest Speakers

Gary Anderson (A/RED) and Danuta

Admits that ES is least knowledgeable area and he is on a steep learning curve. Strength with working with data, looking for cause and effect, aggregating data, looking for trends. Recognises there are individual differences in school’s ability to plan and monitor at a school level. “Don’t know what they don’t know”.

Enrolment policy and processes – CROs working hard, public dissatisfaction leading to appeals.

Suspensions and managing student behaviours, parent dissatisfaction around this.

Need to know where our students are at any point in time.

1500 students ‘ghosted’.

Online incident notifications – are to notify centre of the problems that we face everyday but the long narrative should be located in the SIS behaviour module and not in the OIN system. There has been a lot of SI and successful suicides this year, double any other year. Focus on wellbeing tested because of this data. DO is responsive to this. Body of work will be distributed shortly.

Freeze is over, 18 advertisements for principals going up in South metro (70 across the state). When doing pools of any sort be prepared to get your second through 5th choice as the competition will be fierce.

Online Incident Reports inform the system of the need. This is critical data so that staff are supported.

What support do we want? – phone call to check if you (Principal/Leader) are travelling well and if any further support is needed. Every critical incident is seen by Gary personally. Entering the data should take no longer than 5 minutes. OIN must be done at the time, as close as possible to the incident itself -don’t save them up and enter in bulk.

Specific questions about student funding can be sent to Gary. Forensic detail. Financial planning.

Use your Senior Financial consultant if you are having a situation where you have a surplus to cover for salaries for students leaving and the money leaving with them. Money is not for infrastructure.

Classification of schools and principals, Shelby consulting is looking into this.

Contact Di Carly to apply for HDA/ through a movement notice.
