EXAMPLE:
Education is a vital aspect of life, especially at college. While some institutions of higher learning adequately contribute to the educational experiences of their students, others, sadly, do not. For example, Luzerne County Community College (LCCC) can do a better job at creating an environment more conducive to learning, so if I were president, I would make some significant changes. The three most important changes I would make as president would include more computer labs, more non-smoking areas, and more extra-curricular activities.
One of the first changes I would make as LCCC president would be to increase the number of computer labs on campus. As of now, we have but one, in Building 3, but it is often crowded with sections booked by teachers for their classes. I would put one open computer lab in every classroom building on campus; if there are classes taught in a building, then it would have a computer lab. Thus, more computer labs would certainly add to the educational experiences of LCCC students, and as college president, I would make it happen.
PROCESS:
Education is a vital aspect of lifebecause it prepares us to be productive professionals. One way a college education prepares us for this is teaching us to communicate our ideas in a coherent fashion, especially in a written medium. In English 101, I have learned to write a well-crafted essay that conforms to the principles of Standard Written English, and what follows is the simple six-step process I have honed throughout the semester.
The first step that I had to complete in order to craft a well-written essaywas to gather all the supplies I would need throughout my process. These materials included pens, notebooks, and a computer. One Sunday morning before the start of the semester, I gathered all these items and placed them in the desk drawer of my computer stand so I would have everything I at hand if and when I needed it.
CLASSIFICATION:
Education is a vital aspect of life, and education often teaches us valuable lessons about life. That is, not only does college teach us about our content areas, but it also educates us about life in general. One extra-curricular lesson we learn is how to interact with different types of people. Here at Luzerne County Community College (LCCC), we are blessed by the diversity of our student population, so we are able to intermingle with a variety of major sectors of the population. The three most interesting types of people I have come to know at LCCC are the Returning Soldier, the ESL-Speaker, and the Second-Chancer.
One interesting type of LCCC studentI have engaged is the Returning Soldier. These types of pupils are characterized by their military service. Many of these men and women have recently returned from active duty and are now pursuing a college degree. For example, in my Psychology 101 class, I was in a study group with a woman who had served in the recent Iraq campaign as a medic. She frequently related stories of combat and triage, and when we were discussing brain trauma, she shared how many of her fellow Marines had suffered brain injuries while engaged with the enemy. Her insight and experience truly enriched my education, and I was very glad to have met her. Thus, the Returning Soldier type of LCCC student makes classes much more interesting.
