Relation to Learning Standards / ·  Activities are evidently aligned to standards. Students will be tested on this concept on the NYS tests.
·  Bolded words of the congruency table showed the alignment between the standards and content / ·  Please consider identifying the rubric on the congruency table.
Intellectual Challenge / ·  Allowing students to express their thought processes during the guided practice is a great way for students to learn from peers and hear other ideas. / ·  Please consider asking students more questions at a higher level on Bloom’s Taxonomy.
·  Please consider giving students opportunities to provide examples of when accurate measurements would be a useful skill in everyday life.
Engagement / ·  Students are actively engaged throughout the whole lesson.
·  The ruler for each student is a great hands-on way to keep each student focused on the task.
·  The volunteers are actively engaged in the measuring tasks.
·  The lesson flows nicely and students are motivated and interested. I can picture you teaching the lesson. / ·  Please consider implementing an activity to allow for more student volunteers, so all students are participating.
·  Please consider allowing students to work in groups to measure several common objects with more challenging measurements.
Assessment Plan / ·  All assessments are effective and assess the attainment of learning objectives.
·  The diagnostic assessment is good indication as to which students understood the concept prior to the lesson and how many students understood the concept after the lesson. The number of students in the distinguished category increased, which was evident from your assessment tools.
·  The rubric is a clear assessment tool for understanding the expectations of the homework page. / ·  If more time is provided, please consider assessing a group project where students measure objects and design a model.
Adaptability / ·  The enlarged ruler is an effective tool for the whole group instruction.
·  I liked your use of different learning styles. Students can listen to peers’ rationale, actively use the ruler to measure, and visualize the length of the tape. / ·  Please consider describing an intervention activity to assist any students who scored in the developing stage.
·  Please consider providing more opportunities for students to measure objects at their desks other than the tape. This may help any student who needs more hands- on instruction.
Technology Integration / ·  The website was an effective tool for self-assessment.
·  The integration of a computer activity acts as an engaging game to the students. They seem to enjoy the activity. / ·  Please consider integrating a floor model electronically done for students to see real life measurements put into action.
