PIANO COMPETITIONS

Place: Episcopal Emmanuel Church, 285 Lyons Plain Road, Weston CT

FEE$45.00 participation fee for single event; $40.00 each for multiple events

APPLICATIONS

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible to participate in the Awards Program, students must reside in Connecticut or study with teachers who are members in good standing in Schubert Club of Fairfield County.

TO BE ELIBIGLE TO COMPETE FOR THE SCHUBERT CLUB ACHIEVEMENT AWARD (FORMERLY,THE KOFFLER AWARD), A STUDENT MUST HAVE PARTICIPATED IN SCHUBERT CLUB SPONSORED EVENTS (RECITALS, SCHUBERT CLUB AWARDS OR FESTIVAL) FOR THREE OF FOUR HIGH SCHOOL YEARS. PARTICIPATION IN THESE EVENTS IN SENIOR YEAR IS MANDATORY.

Participating teachers must be members in good standing as of September 15 of the current calendar year (June to June) in order to participate in the Awards Program.

Students who won First Prize in a competition may not compete for the same award in the same age level.

Students must enter at appropriate age level. Age is defined as of the day of the Competition and must be included on participant’s application(s).

MUSIC

Arrangements, transcriptions and photocopies are not allowed; however, computer-generated copies from reliable sources such as PianoStreet.com (Opus 111); Werner Icking Archives; IMSLP (International Music Score Library Project; Musicalion; CDs from music publishers, (consent note included) may be used. Transcriptions acceptable as standard repertoire may be used (I.e., Liszt transcriptions, Bach transcriptions of

Baroque concerti, transcriptions by other composers e.g. Busoni, Rachmaninoff)

Repeats are permitted only at Primary level only.

Students will give their music to the judges.

Students are requested to remain in the audition room for the entire program.

RESULTS

Winners will be announced after each Competition

All judges’ decisions are final

Honorable Mention may be awarded at the discretion of the judges

Adjudication sheets will be mailed to teachers

All First Prize winners of Bach, Chopin and French competition Awards and the Schubert Club Achievement Award Recipient are expected to perform at the Awards Concert, which will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 7:00 pm at the Episcopal Emmanuel Church, 285 Lyons Plain Road, Weston. The concert is free and open to the public. Winners of all events, including Honorable Mention recipients, will be given their prizes and Certificates at the Concert. A Reception follows.

Please note that we have expanded the time limit for each age level by 1 minute. We EXPECT that teachers will comply with our insistence to stay within these limits in order that our events may be run smoothly and fairly.
