where is Edgars Creek secondary college?

Edgars Creek Secondary College (interim name) is a new school located at thecorner of Steen Avenue and Edgars Road, Epping North.

Edgars Creek Secondary College will be opening in two stages to give students earlier access to a local secondary college.

Year 7 foundation students will be taught at Mernda Central P-12 College for Terms 1 and 2, 2018.

The Department of Education and Training will support students and families during this period, including by providing transport between Edgars Creek Secondary College and Mernda Central P-12 College. Students can be left and collected at a designated drop off point from day one, so their routine won't need to change.

Year 7 foundation students will transition to Edgars Creek Secondary College in Term 3, 2018, once it is fully operational - six months ahead of the original plans.

What is the Government’s policy on school enrolments?

The Education and Training Reform Act 2006states that all students are entitled to enrol at their designated neighbourhood government school. Thisunderpins the Department of Education and Training’s enrolment and placement policies, which can be found at:

As consistent with the statewide Placement Policy, Edgars Creek Secondary College will use the following priority order when enrolling students:

  1. Students for whom the school is the designated neighbourhood school.
  2. Students with a sibling at the same permanent address who are attending the school at the same time.
  3. Where the regional director has restricted the enrolment, students who reside nearest to the school.
  4. Students seeking enrolment on specific curriculum grounds.
  5. All other students in order of closeness of their home to the school.
  6. In exceptional circumstances, compassionate grounds.

How is the designated neighbourhood school defined?

DET produces maps thatshow the designated neighbourhood area for each school and the addresses for which that school is the nearest, measured by direct distance.

How do I apply for enrolment at Edgars Creek Secondary College?

If you are applying for a place in Year 7 for the 2018 school year, parents with students in Grade 6 will receive the relevant documentation from theirprimary school.

How is permanent place of address defined for enrolment at Edgars Creek Secondary College?

Permanent place of address is the address a child permanently resides at with a custodial parent or legal guardian at the time of enrolment. Proof of permanent place of address will require a family to supply appropriate evidence.
