Press Speech

Edgar Shane – Press Speech Final Version

Date – 9/24/02

I’m proud to speak to you about the high-end home theater and film industry projector, the DLA-G150CL, designed to meet the needs of two demanding markets.

With JVC’s original D-ILA technology, this CineLine projector delivers high resolution, film quality images that cater to the discriminating home theater owner with a critical eye. The DLA-G150CL is designed for home applications with brilliant, big screen images with the textured detail of film.

The DLA-G150CL projector along with D-VHS is also becoming increasingly popular in the film industry. This projector is revolutionizing the way in which Hollywood film executives review material shot daily. The DLA-G150CL produces such high quality and pixel-free images that directors and producers can see their work as close to film as possible with no need to secure a 35mm projector and screening room.

Just briefly, I’d like to touch upon a few specifications that make this projector so desirable. The DLA-G150CL incorporates three high-density 0.9” 1.4M-pixel D-ILA devices with virtually invisible pixel grid. The result is a stunning, sharp and clear image comparable to 35-mm film. In addition to its smooth film-like picture structure, the G150CL is equipped with a xenon lamp that provides more natural color, and has four optional interchangeable lenses for custom installations. With the full home theater experience in mind, the G150CL was designed for low operating noise and quieter fans, so no sound box is needed.

We’ve received great reviews on this projector. Projector Central.com and Widescreen Review magazinereviewed the G150CL, and found that “the DLA-G150CL is a super high performance option that you will not want to overlook.” They also went on to comment that if you’re looking for a high performance projector in this price range, “you will be doing yourself a favor by acquainting yourself with this beautifully engineered machine.” We could not have said it any better.

The DLA-G150CL is a result of JVC’s dedication to D-ILA technology and its vision of creating a line of projectors to meet the needs of various audiences that demand the best image quality and the most exciting visual experience in the home theater environment. You’ll see how and why the DLA-G150CL high quality images have such strong appeal for Hollywood executives when reviewing dailies. Now, home theater enthusiasts, who strive to have the best quality equipment, can have the same technology used by Hollywood in their own homes. JVC’s DLA-150CL will clearly capture both of these markets with unbelievable film quality projection.

Now it’s time to divulge what you’ve all been waiting for. Our discussion of home theater projectors has been leading up to this moment. JVC has researched, surveyed and worked for years to create the highest resolution portable projector at an affordable price with no need for JVC customers to sacrifice quality for cost. We call the projector the DLA-SX21 or SX21 for short.

This new D-ILA projector was created with JVC customers in mind, giving it an affordable price tag for those who simply cannot purchase a higher end model. For under $10,000 MSRP, the SX21 is positioned in the market as the highest resolution and most superb image quality portable projector. It is capable of producing virtually “pixel-free” film-like images for a wide variety of sources and applications.

We believe that your readers are interested in creating the effect of a movie theater in their home and need to look no further than JVC’s SX21. They will be able to own a high quality D-ILA projector for a fraction of the price expected with such advanced technology. The SX21 sets a new standard in resolution and image quality for its class. It proves to even the most critical viewers that a digital projector based on D-ILA technology can produce images with a nearly invisible pixel grid, completely free from any motion artifacts, and with natural color reproduction.

End-users will benefit from the purchase of DLA-SX21. JVC can now offer what their customers have been demanding and continue to provide the high quality that was previously only available in projectors in the $20,000, or more category. SX21’s portable size, low noise, rich feature set and wide variety of input signals make this model the most “installation friendly” projector on the market.

The SX21 delivers the highest quality images possible at this affordable price while giving them a projector that will be “state-of-the-art” for many years to come. So what is it about the SX21 that makes it so great? If you know numbers, here are a few:

  1. Priced under $10,000
  2. Native ultra-high resolution of 1400 X 1050, which is 15 percent more than any SXGA projector and 40 percent more than popular Wide XGA units from SONY, SANYO and SHARP
  3. 800:1 contrast ratio
  4. Selectable 16:9 / 4:3 aspect ratio
  5. Just under 12 lbs.
  6. And three 0.7” D-ILA devices for virtually “pixel-free” images

I think it’s most important to focus on what we mean when we say “pixel-free” images. We like to say, “When it comes to pixels, more is less.” What me mean is the higher the pixels, the less visible they are. The three D-ILA chips project the richest color and highest contrast without the screen-door and rainbow effects that plague other projectors. Each D-ILA chip contains 1.5 million pixels, which calculates to 4.5 million pixels in total!

JVC is confident that the DLA-SX21 will astonish you and your readers for many reasons. No other projector in its price range can deliver like the SX21. And we’re going to prove it to you.

Please follow me as we head to the front of the auditorium so you can see for yourself what all the big fuss is about.
