EME 3410 – Integrating Technology in the Classroom

WebQuest Tutorial

Name: ______

Due Date: February 7

If you have not read pages 31 – 34 of your text do that now.

Go to the web site:

This is a link to an on-line tutorial for creating a “WebQuest”.

Go through the tutorial for each section (introduction, task, process, evaluation, and conclusion). Click on one or two of the samples to see how other instructors have used webquests in their course. Please try to look at those appropriate for middle school math and/or science. If you wish to look at the “saving the whales” webquest, use the following link (the one online does not work).

Save the whales:

Note that most of the webquests have a teacher page and a student page. Be sure to look at both.

As you progress, think about a topic you wish to use in creating your own “webquest” at a later date.

When you have looked at the outline for each phase of the webquest and have examined several examples of both student and teacher pages, go to the following link.

It is the master page for “webquests”.

Click on Training Materials.

Scroll down and click on the middle school link under “Webquests about webquests.”

Work in a group of three to complete this Webquest. Note: The assignment calls for a group of four with each person selecting a roll. When you get to this point, each of you should select any of the four rolls except The Affiliator.

WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED, save your document with answered questions and any notes you make along the way in all three folders. (You may need to email your master document to two of the participants – ie only the student logged on can save directly to their folder).

Each student should link the webquest document to your portfolio via item 16 of the NETS Profile (can be found via your EME class links.)
