Ecosystem Travel Brochure

Project Due Date: October 9th

Objective: Your assignment is to create a travel brochure for tourists to help decide a future visit to an ecosystem of your choice.

Requirements:

  • You should use at least an 8 ½ x 11 inch sheet of paper that will be folded into different sections.
  • Your work may be done by hand or on a computer.
  • Your information must be accurate and current. So, you must research your ecosystem to find out what to place on your brochure.
  • Your brochure has six sections when folded. Below is what you are required to have in each section:
  • Cover page – tell us what area you researched. Include a colored map of your entire destination and where it is found.
  • Flora – include a section that describes at least two the most common flora (plants) that inhabit your ecosystem and include of picture of the plants that you chose.
  • Fauna – include a section that describes at least two of the most common fauna (animals) that inhabit your ecosystem and include a picture of the animals that you chose.
  • Abiotic Factors – include a section that describes two abiotic factors in your ecosystem. These can be mountains, rivers, lakes, cliffs, caverns, hills, bordering oceans, soil type, plateaus, rainfall, amount of sunlight, etc. Include pictures that show these factors.
  • Tourism – include information that would entice people to visit your ecosystem. Be a salesman -- what is special about your ecosystem.
  • The last section is up to you. What do you want to learn about your ecosystem? Did you find something in your research the peaked your interest and want to investigate further? Tell us what you learned and add a picture to illustrate your topic.

Research:

You may use a variety of resources such as books, internet, clipart, and magazines. Write the brochure in your own words. When using pictures you must write (or site) where you found them. You do not have to site your own drawings. The resources you used are to be listed on a separate sheet that needs to be turned in with your project. We will be using two class periods to begin our research.
