Economic Profiles Project

Seniors at H.S.A. struggle with the idea that they are part of a world economy. In Economics, they will learn about various global economic issues. This project allows students to gain a greater understanding of the economies of the world. Students will be asked to create an economic profile of the country and share it with the class. Students will research the country by investigating the major economic issues of today, and then research and analyze the major economic information the county can provide.

Current Event of ______

To gain a full understanding of your country, you must be aware of the major economic issues in your country. You will complete a write up on a major economic news story that is dominating the headlines in the country you have chosen.

You will be expected to complete a write up and share it in class on November 18, 2015.

Current Event Paper

Section 1: What happened?

  • Start with a general economic topic sentence that includes the topic of the article.
  • Introduce the article and the issue.
  • Provide the WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY of the event.
  • Include two concrete details (stats, quotes) and correctly cite the author. (MLA format)

Section 2: So what?

  • Explain why you think this current event is important.
  • How is it important on a local, state, national, or international level?
  • How might it impact those around you?
  • How might it impact those people in the country?
  • Why is it important to global or national markets?
  • Why is it an important issue in your country?
