Eco Drama Group
We are looking for 2 dynamic individuals to establish our exciting new drama project in collaboration with the Whiteinch Centre: -
1. Lead Drama Artist
The Lead Drama Artist will be responsible for establishing and leading on the delivery of the new Eco Drama Group, to be held in the Whiteinch Centre. They will devise, plan and lead weekly sessions, and ensure that the group is young person led in that the focus grows from the common interests of the participants. The Lead Drama Artist will also be responsible for establishing a monitoring and evaluation system for the group, and in developing and directing informal showings and a potential performance/showing at the end of the year.
2. Assistant Drama Artist
The Assistant Drama Artist will support the Lead Drama Artist and group of young people, supporting the ideas of the group and ensuring the smooth running of the sessions.
Basis
The Eco Drama Group will meet once a week at the Whiteinch Centre, Glasgow, running from January – December 2014 during the school term time. The group will comprise of interested young people attending the Jigsaw After-School Care programme at the Centre, and the majority will be young people aged between 8-10 years.
Possible days for delivery are Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays between 3-6pm (it will be a 1.5 hr session within this time). The day of the week/time that the group will run is to be decided with Whiteinch Centre, upon finding the successful candidates and discussing availability.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Candidates must have the following skills and attributes and be able to evidence these in their application and interview.
LEAD DRAMA ARTIST / ASSISTANT DRAMA ARTISTo Based in Glasgow or nearby
o A strong background in drama workshop delivery
o Strong evidence of planning, leading and managing the delivery of drama projects
o Experience working with primary school level young people
o Ability to adapt workshop leading style to different ages and stages of drama experience
o Excellent communication skills
o Well organised, able to work on own initiative & as a team
o Punctual and reliable
o Positive attitude
o A strong interest in current ecological ideas and thoughts
o Awareness of child protection and health & safety
o An interest in socially purposeful projects working at a grass roots level / o Based in Glasgow or nearby
o Some evidence of drama workshop delivery or drama workshop assistance
o Experience working with primary school level young people
o Excellent communication skills
o Well organised, able to work on own initiative & as a team
o Punctual and reliable
o Positive attitude
o An interest in current ecological ideas and thoughts
o Awareness of child protection and health & safety
o An interest in socially purposeful projects working at a grass roots level
FEES
o Lead Drama Artist: £65 per 1.5 hour session (fee includes travel, prep & planning time)
o Assistant Drama Artist: £35 per 1.5 hour session (fee includes

Eco Drama is a children’s theatre company delivering theatre productions and creative learning workshops to schools, festivals, theatres and community venuesacross Scotland. Uniquely touring in a vehicle run on renewable bio diesel, our work is celebrated for engaging and inspiring young people in the value of caring for our natural world. The company also creates educational resources, delivers continued professional development sessions to teachers, and are about to host their first community orchard planting event.
