  1. Introductions & Remarks – President D’Angelo

Announcement: The Bylaw change was voted on and accepted regarding year round practices, 10 practices from August 1 to December 31 by Executive Committee per the Bylaws Article XV Section 1 following the lack of quorum at the November 1, 2017 EC Board of Directors Meeting.

Mandatory Coaches, Team Mangers & Scorekeepers meeting will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Xavier. Scorekeepers will begin and 11:00am- 1:00pm with Coaches meeting from 1:00pm – 3:00pm. As a reminder, any program whose coach does not attend either the Annual Conference or this meeting will start every regular season, playoff and championship game one point down for the entire 2018 season.

  1. Open MALS Forum – A discussion was held regarding the vote and announcement of the bylaw change in November. Attendance at the Monthly Board of Directors meetings continues to be a challenge. The MALs may at some point want to consider a bylaw changes reducing the number of MALs needed for a quorum. Currently a quorum is based on the number of MALs, not the number of teams present.
  1. Approve Meeting Minutes

Open Meeting Minutes December 6, 2017 – Minutes need to be amended to reflect the announcement and vote by the EC regarding the by-law change regarding year round practices. They will be approved with revisions at the February meeting.

  1. Treasurer’s Report – Team Dues will be $1700/team and will be due 1 week prior to the 1st scheduled game on Tuesday February 13, 2018. Each team will receive an invoice. If you have not received your team invoice, please contact Eric Hitchcock at . Teams are welcome to bring the checks to the February 7 meeting.
  1. 2018 Schedule
  • Game Schedule – 2018 Varsity game schedule is complete. Nancy Lowe asked that the Desert Vista JV games at Pecos Park begin at 5:00pm as we will not have fields or scorekeepers available any earlier.
  • Team practices begin January 22, 2018
  • 2018 Playoff Format – The format will be as follows:
  • Playoff Game #1 – Monday, April 30
  • Playoff Game #2 – Wednesday, May 2
  • Championship Game – Friday, May 4
  1. Committees
  • Friday Night Lights – March 23, 2018 – This date has been scheduled for all Varsity Teams. More information to follow.
  • WNT – March 3, 2018 – Women’s National Tournament Tryouts will take place on March 3 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Seton Catholic Prep @ 1150 N. Dobson Rd., Chandler, AZ 85224.

The 2018 WNT Team will consist of 20 players, 5 attackers, 5 defenders, 8 midfield and 2 goalies. The tryout fee is $50. Team Fees will be $350 which includes a uniform and coaches expenses. If a player is selected and then drops off the team, that player will not be considered the following year. Any player selected that drops off the WNT team will also not be considered for All American Honors. ALL OTHER EXPENSES are the responsibility of the player and their family.

VIII. 8th Grade Petitions - The AGLA Bylaws have been modified and approved and 8th grade players are no longer allowed to play in this league. Requests for exceptions will not be addressed or approved. * Based on circumstances, teams may allow 8th grade players if they meet eligibility guidelines and if they provide a signed application to the league. This information is available on the AGLA website.

IX. Athlete Transfers – The transferring of Athletes is covered in the AGLA Bylaws – Section 12.C: Player Requirements:

Transfer Requests: After enrolling and attending one or more High School classes, a student changing enrollment from one school (sending school) to another school (receiving school) shall be considered a transferring student. A transferring student is not eligible to participate in AGLA competition at the receiving school unless there is a corresponding change of domicile and all other AGLA eligibility requirements are met. (The receiving AGLA Club shall be responsible for verification of all eligibility requirements.) For information and record keeping purposes, the receiving and sending AGLA Teams shall reasonably cooperate and complete AGLA requested documentation. The completed document shall be filed with AGLA by the receiving school. A student who transfers without a corresponding change in domicile is eligible after the completion of the season in the school year of the transfer.

  1. Website – JV & Varsity Schedules for each team can be found on the AZGLA Website. All team stats will be entered and kept on the website. All stats must be entered within 24 following each game played. Stats will be discussed at the Mandatory Training on Saturday, January 27.
