Program Exit Interview

Format

1.  Introduce self and others in room. Explain purpose of Program Exit Interview as follows:

We are holding this interview because we want to know if students are satisfied with their educational experiences at EIU when they leave us. The information that you provide here today will be used for program evaluation and improvement. We will record, transcribe, and summarize the information from this interview. However, no individual responses will be identifiable in any report. Please feel free to give honest feedback in response to our questions. We assure you that your answers will have no impact on any evaluation of you in the Program.”

2.  General opening:

“As we sit here right now, what are your feelings about the program?

3.  Explore the nature of any problems or topics that arise from the general opening.

4.  “What particular things about the Nursing Program would you like to see continue? What are our strengths?”

5.  “What particular things about the Nursing Program would you like to see improved or changed?”

6.  “Aside from the Nursing Program, what aspects of the University helped you to achieve success?”

7.  “Aside from the Nursing Program, what aspects of the University could be improved to better assist students to achieve success?”

8.  “What are your career plans?”

9.  “Is there any way we can be of help to you in the future?” (contacts, networking, references, etc.)

10.  “We now see you as a professional colleague in the community. Would you be willing to serve as a resource for the RN to BS in Nursing Program here at EIU?”

11.  “Is there anything else you would like to add?”
